Arm Pump

I've been away from riding for a few years now and I dont have alot of time to ride to stay in shape. it sucks going to a track and doing 3 laps and my arms feel like jello the rest of the night. is there anything that will help me get a few extra laps before getting arm pump? besides the normal stuff like bananas or asprin?

For me, it is all about comfort level, being back or even at a new track always causes me arm pump. Breathe, relax, and try riding at 80% rather than 100% till your comfort level increases. I often suffer arm pump my first session, but it seems I can ride 30 minute sessions plus once I am comfy with the track. BTW...Welcome back!!!

I never had arm pump (must be too slow) but always heard you should run & do squats as strong legs
let the arms take it easy.

I use to get horrible arm pump and then i asked vinnie what to do an he said hold on to the bike with your finger tips and loosen up your grip.

it helped.

Usually i pump up real bad in the first two outs when i get to a track. After that I loosen up fairly tolerably for the remainder of the day.

The only thing that i find helps me out Is to stretch the forearm real well, grip the bike with your legs especially when you get on the pipe. Loosen grip in air and take a deep breathe in.

Personally I think arm pump is 80% mental. As those above said its comfort level. If you have the death grip on the bike nothing is going to prevent arm pump. Relax and remember you arent supposed to hold on to the bike with your hands, only rest them on the bars.

no you need to ride 110% so when you ride 100 you dont pump up. the only real thing to help arm pump is riding. other things "help" but without seat time itll get ya.
