Vp fuel

If you feel the need to run VP, T4 is your best choice. I would recommend a non-ethonal, 91+ octane pump gas.

Dumb question but what exactly is pure gas or is it just what it says?
Pure Gas = Ethanol Free Gas

Theres actually a place near Malvern in Waco that has it in pump form. Beaver petroleum. Any one ever go there? I'm always tempted.

Run T4..... People will tell you your wasting your money, your not.. Those are just the ones afraid to do a little research on what they are feeding their $6,000+ investment.

Not afraid to do research at all. (who is afraid of research?) But personal experience trumps internet ethanol fear mongering... and to consider a dirtbike anything other than a quickly depreciating asset is as misinformed as your fear of pump gas :D

In going to have to disagree with about everything you said, except the depreciating of dirtbikes.. So just because your car depreciates means you don't take care of it? You trust your bike to take you over jumps and full throttle through different terrain.. Yet you'll put garbage gas in it, which it needs to fun efficiently ? I don't understand your logic. But either way, to each their own.

The original question was VP or pump gas. Maybe the real answer is GOOD pump gas. Sunoco has both leaded and unleaded gas available at select locations. Both are 110 octane, ethanol free in the $8.00 / gallon range. The Sunoco race gas page has a location search tool.

I think It depends on your bike, I'm an old guy with vintage bikes.

My 1981 Suzuki owners manual recommends 94 octane leaded. Years before anybody wanted to grind up surplus corn to keep the farmers happy and dump the s**t in good gas because it almost burns like gas. So I mix 50 / 50 Sunoco Race gas 110 octane leaded with Sunoco 93 standard unleaded pump gas, unleaded with 10 % ethanol. Works out to be 102 octane, half leaded, half ethanol. All I can say is that the bike runs better, revs better.

Today I learned that because I put pump gas in my car(s)/bike(s) I am neglecting their maintenance (don't take care of it). The majority of us.. all are neglecting our bikes and cars.. That's some sound logic!

i used to waste tons of money on race gas thinking my bikes would run better, they didnt... the ethanol free gas i purchase is 90 octane and is labeled for recreational use from ravenna oil... this works great for my stock 2 strokes... i think this gas would work great for any stock bike... but i do miss the smell of the race gas in the garage...:)

Here is the real skinny. Your bike needs the proper octane to run correctly. Most of todays modern 4 stroke engines require 91 octane. Too much octane and your bike looses performance as well as too little.

Ethanol will not hurt your modern bike, dont listen to the internet scare tactics, dont listen to the salesmen at the race fuel stores. Ethanol is only very slightly corrosive. It is corrosive to older rubber seals and metals in fuel systems, yes it does attract water.....the water that is ALREADY in your fuel from contamination and condensation. Be glad its in there, it disperses the water instead of letting it pool up in one location causing trouble by way of corrosion. In the winter it causes fuel line freeze up in cars. Havent had to deal with that much in years have we? Thank ethanol. Methanol is EXTREMELY corrosive, that is NOT legal in pump fuel. Two different types of alcohol.

That being said.....dont run an excessive amount of ethanol. The 10% in pump gas wont hurt your stock bike at all. I have ran it for years with no problems in my 06 YZ125 and my 13 RMZ450, 12 YZ450F and my 09 YZ450F. Too much ethanol will rob power and cause a lean issue in non fuel injected bikes because the jetting needs to be richer. Fuel injected bikes automatically compensate.

Sure .... running the correct $15-$25 a gallon race fuel will improve performance a little bit, but hoestly do any of need that extra 1 HP ? It will start a bit easier maybe and smell real good but thats about it for a STOCK modern 4 stroke.

Older 2 strokes and modified bikes of all years will do much better on race fuel. My YZ125 is now a 144, I noticed that a 50/50 mix of 110 and pump gas made it run much cleaner and crisp. The compression is bumped up and requires more octane to run properly.

Why I won't run pump gas my buddy pulled this out of his 150 today .. That is detonation... Caused by lower octane crappy pump gas.
