Bringing D11 back to pitracer. Sunday is round 1 of the Buckeye Series and only 1 of 7 races in Ohio 2010 that pay Kawasaki Contingency. I don't have any inside information but it should be a Killer-barger track (no charge for the Rupert-ish pun)

race actually went off pretty good!! I am not exactly a big fan of the layout of COCR anymore, but i will say that yesterday was a really good day. The track was in great shape and Tony and his crew did a really good job. The turnout was dismal for sure!! It was a Buckeye series race and there were less than 200 signups??? yeah yeah yeah i get it everyone and their brother wants to go practice all day instead of racing but doesn't anyone do this for the competition anymore? The track turned out to be really good, i didn't see any ambulance runs, good racing and I was done loaded and heading home at 430. Oh well, lets hope for better turnouts for the rest of the Buckeye series.

Im right with you Blair. 3 of us in 30 plus A! Come on people! I was a sceptic about them using a roto-tiller only on the track but I actually created more lines. You know normally in practice there is just one line around the track. It turned out good though.

I only go to COCR every once and while.....seems like everytime I go there, there are only 3 or 4 in 30 plus..

they actually had a pretty decent turnout in the 30B class John, i think that there were 10 or 12 in there. It really was a pretty good day at the races, although i wasnt a big fan of running 2 and 4 in the race order in 90 degree heat!! But hey it just makes me tougher!

Mike were so proud of you for not bitchin about the track ALL day!!!!! haha
Anyways, i agree with mike and brenner. Track was actually pretty good all day! Was a lil slippery being 2nd moto after intermission, but the track was in great shape for my 25plus moto, which was the last of the day.
It still pisses me off that theres only 150(maybe) entries at a Buckeye Series race when theres 250 the night before at a fair race! And like Mike said, does anybody ride to race anymore? Or are we a state of pro practicers that are more worried about practicing the scrub?!? Were not gonna have anywhere to race in a few years if you guys dont start coming out to support our tracks. And dont give the me the "economy" non-sense. Theres 100's of riders at briarcliff every weekend. And like i said earlier, 200-300 riders at a FAIR race!

Yea, that was tough. I actually had an umbrella girl on the gate the second time around. I wasn't sure I was going to make it. It would have been easier to just go around 8 laps instead but you're right it just makes us tougher. That gives you a glimpse of how tough our guys must be that do 30 minutes + 2 laps.
The track was the best it's been in a long time, especially in those hot conditions. Looking forward to going back for round 7.

Your right Richie. There needs to be better turnouts for sure. The "economy" excuse goes hand in hand with the "more seat time practicing". Alright then what are they all practicing for if they don`t race?

Thanks Tom. Hope to see you at the next one!
I see a small issue. No Series filter. D11 states it is not responsible for handling the series points. I found this website:
http://www.tracksideonlineresults.com/trackside/oswmxs
...which seems to support the Spring and SW series but not Buckeye.
http://www.ohiomxseries.com/
...which seems to support the Spring and Buckeye but in a 1996 sort of way. Is there a better source of information out there? Is this series promoted at all?

As a district 11 member myself, I here you guys.
Everybody certainly has their own reasons for not showing up for race days and supporting the tracks but try and be a little understanding and open minded.
I've been fortunate enough to ride COCR on open practice days a couple of times and would like to race there sometime, but timing just hasn't worked out for me on that yet. And no, I don't ride fair races. I worry enough about crashing at a regular track in front of a few spectators, so I sure as hell don't want an ugly get-off in front of a few hundred or a thousand fair-goers. And the fair tracks suck compare to the attention to detail that a permanent track gets.
You also have to understand that COCR can be a little intimidating to some riders, especially if prepped by Tony K. Not everybody can or wants to ride the track obstacles that are put in, and sure as hell don't want to be rolling sections or jumps during a race. Can't be very competitive doing that!
And you might not want to completely discount economics in the discussion, because if I were to show up at a COCR or District 11 race anytime soon, it will be on a 7 year old YZ250, and again, it's not that I can't afford a newer machine to ride, it all just comes back to is it the right time to be blowing several thousands of dollars for a newer toy in these uncertain days.
Just the viewpoint of a 40-something novice amateur rider/racer.
