The Coolest Rider of the Day!

Our motocross season is in full swing now. The second stop of the early MX season for OMA was held at the beautiful MX 213. Practice was cancelled due to the near 2' of rain that came down Thursday and Friday. That was a bit of bummer, but I like the reasoning behind cancelling a Saturday practice to preserve the track for racing on Sunday if need be. I left the house at about 5 a.m. with about an hour and a half drive from North Canton, OH.

The drive is well worth it; easy, and scenic. It was chilly Saturday night which made for some beatuiful scenery for the drive down. Once you hit 70 East, the sun is constantly shining in your face as it rises lighting up the day. The sun rays beamed across the rolling hills waiting for the grass to the respond, just beginning to melt away the frost sending some visible vapor into the air. The trees were eclipsed by the sun as their shadows showed them to be taller than they actualy are but true in revealing the strength of a tree. Sunglasses would have been useful. You can learn a lot about life by examining trees. As I grow into a man, I want to be like a big white oak tree; ...

Old Man Winter wanted to ride also on opening day at Malvern Motocross. Saturday practice was cancelled due to the rain to keep the track packed in for racing on Sunday. This wasn't the news we wanted to hear with the long winter we have had. With various reports coming in for receiving 1"-6" of snow Saturday night; it made for a bleak outlook Sunday. Sitting at my desk the eve before the 2014 Ohio Outdoor Motocross Season would see it's first gate drop...I couldn't help but look forward to all the sights, sounds, smells, emotions, and people the following day.

In the second year of OMA racing; "consistency" has been an important word amongst the organization. Consistency refers to a similar routine or behavior over a period of time in changing circumstances. In application to us; we are looking for consitent operation on race day from track to track and in our ability to work alongside each other as co-laborers in this journey. Consistency will help the smooth flow of operation, help the racers/staff know what is going on during race day, and mainly will help ensure the open door for a enjoyable ...

The older I get, the more I realize that life brings about change. Whether change is welcome or not; it surely happens. Sometimes, when change first happens; it can be difficult to tell what the outcome will be. Perhaps that is why change can be unsettling. I live on my own, my home stays in the same condition when I arrive back from work as I left it. I like it like that. In times past, I have had room mates and the condition of the home would be different then when I left. For better or for worse, but it always got to me that it wasn't the same and I would have to make adjustments. At times it would be very annoying because it changed my routine; change forced me out of my comfort zone. It is peaceful to me for things to remain the same in my home. I don't want change, even if it may be good for me. That is the hard part about growing up...realizing what needs to stay and what needs to go. I suppose I will have a big learning curve when I get married someday! Folks...the change that is happening in Ohio Motocross will prove out to be good. You will have to step out of your comfort zone.

When I write these types of ...

A building is only as strong as it's foundation. The foundation must be laid first for the building to be built on top of it. A bike or quad is only as stable as the frame everything is bolted to. The frame of a machine determines how well the machine will fit together, perform, and hold up under the stresses it is subjected too. Words are only as good as the integrity lived out behind them to give weight and trust to the words spoken.

By nature, PItRacer.com is a public forum where off-road riding enthusiasts can discuss anything from tire pressure, the past weekend's race, and real life matters. Often times, important subjects are brought up and the thread slowly disappears as more threads are posted.

The objective of "Insiders" is to provide a place where these important topics can be placed in a "vault" so to speak for safe keeping where they will not disappear. Basically the topics of importance in relation to our passion can be easily seen, found, and discussed. As with any building, once the foundation is built; then you can proceed ...

"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." Abraham Lincoln

Good ol' Summit Indoors. This year in 2014, marks 20 years these events have taken place annually. Promoted by Patriot Promotions and sanctioned by the Competition Riders of America. The CRA was started as per the following quoted out of their rule book...

"In 1982, several local track promoters joined together to form the Competition Riders of America. Their main objective was to organize and create a family atmosphere with friendly and competitive competition for all riders. While the sport and the machines we compete on have changed a great deal over the last 30 years, our goals and objectives have not."

Summit Indoors is always fun, especially with the winter we have had. Now that I have a bike, the itch to ride is really strong, just like many of you. This final round means we are really close to the start of the outdoor season. This event gets us out of the house and into some roost. Always a crowd favorite ...
