Ever run over your buddy?

Since the GoPro era, I've captured many instances of myself crashing into...and usually running over...dirtbike buddies! They almost always take it really well & we've never had a serious injury. I occasionally consider if I'm being too "competitive/aggressive", but mostly go back to "racing is racing!" Getting track video of kid riders is always fun for me & I definitely adopt a much more conservative riding style (i.e. a different line & a safer distance). Here's my most recent run-in...sorry it's not MX/SX, but I love all motorcycle seasons...winter included! Video: Running over Kenny

Many years ago I was racing at Dirtworld MX and a guy came up and said "hey aren't you Pitracer? I love that site!"

We talked for a bit, then he was in one of my motos and I was trying to pass him and I hit a bump and missed my brake pedal and completely t-boned him and took us both out in a horrible crash. LOL.

One of my friends missed a gear on a stepup, but I didn't. Landed on the side of him. I've still got a hematoma on the side of my hip from it, and lagging hand issues from about 20 years ago. He was fine...lol.

Never ran over a buddy, but onetime we were riding this woods loop, and i was going backwards on accident, came around a blind corner and there Nic was. I swerved to my left just enough for our front break levers to hit each other, and we both went flying OTB lol. Good times

I had a "friend" t- bone me for 4th place in my first race; some guys get into race mode and out of control. Plus, I was run over by the next guy and had my arm burned on his exhaust pipe. 1998 and my first date with my wife. lol Also, my Honda Cub has some broken plastic tabs from a pit bike race at Briarcliff. You know who you are!!!! That day was a blast.

On a note closer to that, I went head on with a guy in 4th gear at Wayne years ago. It was a Tuesday morning, we listened and didn't hear or see anyone before him. I was very sore, but we had to load him up and send him on his way to the hospital with a broken collarbone. Never ride alone on the trails!!! I've had people help load me up several times from the track. Thanks guys!

Ill piggy back that. Had mr 16 load me up twice at scenic with a right broken leg almost one year apart to the day lol. Had some buddies load me up because of a concussion at summit. Didnt even remember my name for a half hour lol.

My special moto ability must be avoiding crashed and crashing friends. It has happened so times, three times in just one moto and I actually ended up winning the race for that reason. If only I was wearing a GoPro that September Wednesday evening at the Hocking County fair race for my craziest buddy crash avoidance. But nobody had a GoPro in the 1980s. The start was one the horse track in front of the grandstands and section of the rail was removed so a sharp left turn could provide access the infield fair track. Hay bales were stacked at the rail and created the inside of the first turn. Our vet class accelerated off the start to shut down quickly for the flat, slick turn into the infield. Well, except for one bike that briefly remained pinned only to immediately go silent. I had decent start and line but as I braked hard to make the first turn something flew past me on my left. It was the racer with that pinned throttle, separated from his Kawasaki by the hay bales so he could land on his feet in the turn, in front of me! I stopped and I was looking at him, looking at me as he steadied himself! He took off back to his bike and I tried to get back to racing but I was laughing so hard that I was crying and could hardly see where I was going. That was so ridiculously funny that I couldn't stop laughing!

The following year that buddy got separated from his bike at Honda Hills. That one wasn't immediately in front of me and he wasn't so lucky that day as he managed to mess up both of his wrists. Fortunately my future wife was with me to follow in my truck as I drove him home in his truck. We could just drive him home because he lived across the street from a hospital and emergency room. I think they knew him well there...

Yup. Dumbass wrecked in front of me on the start. Coincidentally we were both riding Yamahas and had the same gear on.

I had a vet that I didn't know snag a tuff block in front of me in the whoops at Earlywine. Had a few guys load me up, and drove home 2.5 hours. Broken up collar bone, and of course my truck was a manual. That was not fun.

Knowing you guys, that was a planned cuddle sesh...

I wont wear red gear anymore. Leg, leg, wrist, concussion, hand, knee, ribs, first turn us open, 2nd moto first turn pile up at Lorettas, knee at mini os, all in red. Looks like you guys both got bit by it.

At Monster Mountain quite some time ago the Pitracer posse and my son Jack were ripping on the sand track . Coming down a long straight away in the back section all of a sudden sharp comes doodling out of the woods out onto the track right in front of Jack. They both went down hard. If I remember Jack ripped his shirt up and shark felt so bad he bought him a new one.
I think shark was having a smoke break back there in the woods

Landed on Barney Barnett trying to pass for the lead at malvern. There was a step down triple into a right hand turn that he wasnt jumping. MX955 was laughing in his helmet when he went by after he knew I was ok. Lol

I forgot about that, I saw the whole thing happen right in front of me! I stopped and you gave me the thumbs up while you were still on the ground and then I took off… scary when you see stuff like that happen especially when you know everyone involved!
