I wish my dad let me ride more when I was younger sure playing sports didn’t help with that
Tough to ride playing football and basketball. Look at all the kids that got burnt out riding too much. Here you are at 22 and been going every single year for 18 years.

I never understand how kids get burnt out racing. I started at 4 and raced until i was 9. Quit until i was 13, and have rode since (only time off was due to injury) and I’m 36 now.

Id guess the number one reason kids get burnt out is jackass parents. I know you've seen the type.

Some kids get burnt because its alot of effort if youre doing it on a higher level. Same thing happens to travel ball kids.

I’d say a few reasons one is parents pushing something they want more than their child. I’d say resources and lack of funds. Learned real quick at 17 I needed to bust my ass not only to live but in order to race/ ride. Also the chase of constantly training and riding but not getting anywhere. I will say at 22 years old I’ve never not wanted to ride. Feel like a lot of people forget it’s alright to be competitive that’s life but everyone got into riding cause it’s fun. All I think about is riding/racing and get excited to go everytime. Also makes you appreciate riding more when you know you busted your ass throughout the week working and mommy and daddy didn’t pay for all it.

sounds like you’re parents raised you right!!!!

I never got burned out racing. But looking back at all those years, I thoroughly enjoyed more time spent in the staging area and on the gate and the drives home with my dad than the actual racing itself.

I mean even to this day if my dad‘s not with me at the track that something is missing and I just I’m not really into it.

s**t now that my kids are active my dad been hanging out with us skiiing and riding again. So comes around full circle. If anything I’m getting burned-in. Not out.

Thank you! I think we did a great job raising all three of our kids. All working and successful. Two of the three own homes already. Matthew just bought a house at 22.

We took care of racing throughout his life growing up. After school, it started falling to him. I help out minimally from time to time with some things, but he does it on his own.
