Columbus SMX

After i spent a fortune on a louge for the Cleveland Supercross, i decided to sit this one out. Whoever does go, please let us know how it went. Im skeptical, between weather and the venue being new and smaller. What makes this "SMX"? The fact its an open stadium is the "outdoor" side of it?
 
Showing 83 and mostly sunny currently....

I bought tickets as soon as they were available. Hard to pass up hitting a pro race with no hotels or camping involved.
 
We were kinda planning on going, but just saw the tickets went crazy high. Guess that answers it for me!

It’s pathetic. Giant arenacross track. Was wondering how it would be. The crew stadium is tiny. So sad. When smx was first announced and promoted it’s supposed to be a mix of both supercross and motocross. That has obviously been trumped by who wants to fork out the money!! Motocross and supercross are just 2 different sports. Natural terrain will never be able to be in a stadium.

Yup. Replaced one lane, which is typically the rythem/triple, with one bigger sand section and call it a mix of moto. Its definitely a failed attempt but i believe it could be sweet with different facilities. Its just not executed well. Atleast it gives "them" the opportunity to add to their empire while letting us watch these top guys a little more.
 
Could it be that the latest gimmick in the SMX playoffs is that track size equates to available points per round? Under these conditions team KTM could sweep the podium. It would be cool to see ET or AP on top.
 
Drove past there this morning around 530am. Looked as if they were still moving dirt and things out of the stadium. Could only imagine how much of a mess it was.

I had never been there before, but you were right. The stadium was so small, i was like 10 rows from very top and i still wasnt that far away. Heard someone call it "the most boring race of the year".. I couldnt agree more. I did run into JB, AC, Steve Matthes, and J-Mart! Wish i coulda talked to J-Mart. So that was a cool new thing for me to just run into those guys. Deegs fans were harder than Ron Jeremy in the 80's....
