Track was amazing today. Brian and his crew had 330 prime. I wasn't quite sure how it would be due to the colder temps, but it was great. Multiple lines in the corners and loam. Tomorrow's race should be even better and a touch warmer. The only problem is that I rode way too much and may have worn myself out!. :)
 
Yes, they shortened the lap times up a bit to facilitate better racing...more laps. There's something about 3 laps that scares people even though its the same seat time as a 6 lap race at Malvern...

That track has yet to see it's prime. It's only waiting for the huge turnouts it deserves. I've said this many times that it's got NATIONAL potential. It just needs the riders. So if you're reading this and have never been there, I urge to you stay home from a closer track one weekend and save the bones to venture out to the 330 if its out of your travel budget and you will be extremely impressed. I've been impressed with that facility since 2007 when I went their for the first time. GIVE EM A SHOTT!!
 
Why did they water before practice when it was 19 degrees outside? What did they think would happen...it froze!
 
Next time theyll fill he water truck with anti freeze then 922.

Tough luck when you hold an early race and take a gamble like that. Especially up against a qualifier and malvern. It really is a great track. And the promoters know how to prep a track. Mother nature needs to lay off the poor guy.
 
I'm assuming from the comments that nodoby showed up? Also why would they only be running 3 lap motos.....the lap timess surely aren't longer than Red Bud.

I wanted so bad to come out but just couldn't with this whooping cough disease. I did work outside for a bit today trying to get myself up and around....I've heard this cough can last for months so I'm going to have to learn to live with it I guess.
 
Track does have national potential... there is no doubt about that. All the riders want today is a track with 1,000+ jumps. Thats why they have supercross :)
 
A class ran 5 laps, 4 laps for us slower folk. I think that there were a hundred plus riders. 330 could not have done a better job. They used good judgment and held off the motos until the track was excellent... and it was. Alot of practice was offered Saturday and Sunday.

Maybe you missed my point but common sense says you don't water the track when you know it is going to freeze. Did you not see the riders out for the first practice bypass most of the track because it was either too icy or too clumpy with frozen dirt that the discs could not breakup? It may have been better to run practice before watering and see how it goes and then take a break later to water if needed once it thaws out a bit.

The track did shape up well once things thawed out. It is a shame there weren't more racers. We have been there for on practice days when there were more riders.
 
We watered to help break the dirt up, yes at first it freezes a little but without the water we would not have been able to work it up. For the people who doubted the track and left they missed out. We want to say thanks to everyone that came out and all the people that helped.
 
As I stated earlier for all my complaining I still showed up.

The motos were great. The second set of motos especially turned out supreme ! Mother nature could have given us a warmer day but it is what it is.

As for the watering I must say it turned out sweet. I dont think I would have watered the track in 19 deg temps either and if I was worried about it freezing in the truck then I would have dumped it elsewhere.

The net of it was practice stunk and the motos were sweet so who really cares ???? I had a great time racing but I was really COLD !

What I don't understand is this whole PAOHMX thing. Seems like CRA scheduling with a new name. Scheduling competing events within a sanctioning body (doesn't matter that one is Ohio and one is PA) doesn't make good sense. We chose PA, but would have run 330 if not on a conflicting date. There are other dates too, so I'm not sure who benefits from this deal.
 
The only question I have is what was with the pieces of PVC or sticks pounded into the ground around some of the turns? (im not sure what they were.. all i know is it hurt crashing into them.)
 
I mean you still you got to water. If this track was in South Carolina, or it was June and they stuck to the same regimen nothing would of froze. But still the moto's turned out Primo. It only gets warmer from here on out until mid September...so I think its a safe bet to say the remainder of the races will be all the better.
 
I LOVE RACING @ 330!! The track is great for all, A through D class. Brian, Brandon and the rest of the crew do a great job and are great people. I just can't understand why the turnout is not better for non CRA tracks. Are they too tough for CRA racers? Too long? I wish I knew. I like the bigger more challenging tracks and I am a slow old guy!!!
 
330 was the only PAOHMX track running yesterday. There was a LL Area in Central Pa, but not part of OHPA.
 
Cra tracks aren't getting great turn outs either. In our area I think we have more middle class feeling the punch with the economy, and that effects us negatively.

When I raced minis...50,60s we always had full gates. Numerous videos of Friday night Saturday and Sunday races in the same weekend with tons of riders. If the economy ever picks back up and fuel gets to an affordable rate 100-200 rider turnout is gonna be it.
 
I am from Central Pa and nobody around here does PAMX. We do mostly D6 (Eastern PA). As a matter of fact, some of us started to come out to the CRA after Steel CIty National-just cause we where told about the CRA. Before that we didn't know it existed. My point is that we don't do the PAMX thing cause, besides the fact that they seem to have WAY too many classes, run four wheelers that ruin the track, expensive class fees, 3 lap motos, and I could go on, they just are not friendly people. Promoters who run races with 40 classes of 6 riders each is just dumb. What are they thinking? If they give every kid/boy/vet a trophy, that means absolutely nothing, that people will come in droves? Oh and to think you might win some contingency money? Well, if your doing that then your in the wrong era. Back in the early 90's is when you could make 500 a class, not like 100 a class like now(Yamaha and Honda anyhow). Plus a lot of the times they don't have the required minimums (like in the vet classes). Then you have Vet A's running Vet C cause the vet C makes more money in contingency than the Vet A rider makes in payout, cause vet A only had 3 riders, so they pay no contingency! WTF? Oh man is it screwed up! SANDBAGGER!!!!!

Man just have fun, cause $2K isn't going to get you anything in this sport anyhow today. Gosh, you guys have a lot of great tracks out your way.

Last year I came out to TV Land a couple of times and Big Game a couple of times. Do you know with the 3 hour drive, I was back home by 6? Can't do that at PAMX, that is for sure. Those two tracks that I mentioned are PRIME tracks too. Also very safe Every time I went, I never seen the ambulance go. Go to Steel City or Hi Point and see if that happens!

Well, that is my 2 cents from the "Hick in the Sticks!"
