AMA/MId-Ohio Vintage Days countdown

I got there Thursday around noon last year and they let me right in, no problem. I went in the main gate. If you ask, though, they'll tell you they won't let you in until Friday morning. I'm planning on being there Thursday morning. Motorhome is about done, get some propane tomorrow, finish painting today and DONE. All I'll have to do is fill it with water and load the fridge.

Kevin

I bought the foam and cover and they are both from hi- flite . Using my old seat base. 2 weeks to ship. Put it on myself .
Fit and feel is awesome compared to the old worn out one I replaced. They add the RM if you request it.
Call them after looking at there site. I believe they only have one option now in the foam. Dont remember cost but it's on the site.

******** REMINDER *********

Preregistration closes July 14th.

Registered Friday Hare Scramble on the KDX
Registered Saturday, 30+, and 40+ class's Vintage

But I decided to only race 40+ class this year on Sunday. That just gives me 1 shot at my adversaries from the North East. Guess it's time I better put away the Cheetos and Dads Root Beer and get refocused and tuned up, AAAAAhuh.....Yep !

Hey DMX153........

When you see McGuire, tell him I heard that XR200 guy that handed him the crushing last lap pass is still laughing about how he shamed that sweet YZ250.
You know, just say'n. :)

Hahaha ok Mike I'll let him know! He's done racing for the rest of this this year and probably for good unfortunately. Our mutual friend is suppose to pick up his '87 yz 250 this weekend and he plans on taking his '84 to sell at Mid-Ohio. We are heading down Thursday after work but Rick said he just wants to play around on pit bikes this year. Now if I could get an ounce of his natural talent somehow I might have a better chance in the non-current class!

Myself and 3 others will be there Thursday afternoon through Sunday. We are all street riders as well as dirt so we kinda try and take it all in as spectators as much as possible. My plan is still to watch the MX scene this yr closer than ever because I plan to race MX from 2014 on instead of spectating every yr. I am still thinking a bike in the 87 range - but after watching things more closely this may change. We are the ones with a flaged off area, a school of Yamaha Zumas & pit bikes, and usually racing Traxxas Slash RC trucks in the camp grounds...though we are leaving them at home this year.

Who makes the pipe and if you have a phone # Thanks

A guy in California built it for me. His name is Doug Childress and his email is CR250R@aol.com Tell him Kevin Harper sent you. Doug is a really good guy but he's busy as hell, so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time. It took 4 months and change to get it. He built the silencer I have on it a couple years ago. He makes vintage mesh jerseys that are absolutely top shelf. He also builds FMF replica pipes for early Elsinores and Mugen pipes. Everything he builds or makes is super nice stuff.

I had it plated at Akron Plating with nickel-chrome. Those guys also plate all my hardware, too. Fast turn around and nice work.

Kevin

I had a custom aluminum silencer made by Doug Childress on my '78 RM250. It was sweet! The guy that bought it off me spray painted it black (while still on the bike) and resold the bike. What a shame.

Don't forget the Iron Crosses. They're mandatory graphics if you're going to get top dollar.....

Dave, what happened to McGuire? He get hurt?

Camper is done and ready, bikes are ringed, cleaned up and ready. Vacation days are approved, and I'm plenty ready to go. All good. Everyone else ready?

Just got back from 3 days at Mid-O for Superbike weekend...now getting ready for the best of the two weeks of Mid-Ohio motorcycle racing...Vintage!! Gotta dig the Yamaha IT200 back out for the Harescrambles Friday......

The motorhome is locked up by thunder valley awaiting our return Thursday...it was so wet from the recent rains the whole back side of the track was closed to motorhomes and camping. The "tent-city" area that is normally pretty full was down to just one section due to the lack of attendees of the event. The racing was good, but the turnout was really light.

We are pretty excited too! Rode all 6 bikes today up and ready! Motor home being delivered Wednesday by father in law, pulling out on Thursday at noon!

Thanks for the info; I was wondering how the Superbike turnout was. We quit going shortly after the rules changed and it seams that the teams do not have the factory backing or support they used to. Just looks like the $ is not there that was about 4 yrs ago or so. Turnout has been getting worse and worse since the changes happened. Sad really.

I was also wondering how wet it was. Do you think the woods will be a soupy mess or do you think the 90 deg temps this week will have the woods in decent shape for scrambles and trials? I am sure the low lying areas will have water but it seams that woods runs water off pretty good. Did you walk back and check it out at all?

Yeah proffesional RRacing has been sliding in teams and support. If it weren't for Geico headlining the series it would be pretty bleak.....The current Yamaha R1 bikes of the two Josh's are pretty dominant.....

Yes, did a few woods scouting runs on the trusty old Honda ST90....was soft for sure in some places but not bad...(my wife will disagree as she soil-sampled a few times on her CT70 trying to follow me through soft, peanut-butter mud...) the creek level was normal on Saturday afternoon.....the biggest issue I saw was that MANY trees went down in last Wednesday's storms there due to the 50+ mph winds and rain...Crews were cutting downed trees and grinding branches around the circuit most of the weekend....

Kevin, Rick didn't get hurt he's more burned out. Although he doesn't ride much to begin with he has many irons
in many fires. We'll look you up Thursday when we get there.
