Whos got "rhythm"?

Chilli Town MX

PR Addict
Construction of our rhythm section (rs) is quickly approaching. The new rs will be approximately .4 mile long, take up 75' in total width and will require close to 21,000 tons of dirt. We have multiple reasons for construction of this rs: 1. Give riders more seat time. 2. Create another evening activity/show. 3. We want to show the west coast how the "Heartland" does it. 4. Create revenue(it's not going to be free, sorry) 5. Cause we can. 6. It's gonna be B.Ass.
We do not have a solid rs design yet, nor do we have a practice/qualifying/race system. We would love to hear what the Pit Racer crowd has to offer in ways of ideas for design and function.

So....this is not adding to the MX track? When I was looking at the proposed change map at the last event I was thinking this was lengthening the motocross track, not just adding a straight rhythm course. I guess I'm confused....what are the plans for the MX track?

I cant wait to see the "lap" times or old dudes who jump straight vs. all the young'uns who like to scrub everything bigger then a breaking bump.

If you want to invest time into researching various combinations of obstacles before laying down 21,000T of dirt I might suggest reaching out to the MX Simulator community. I realize this is foreign territory for most but there are literally thousands of tracks that have been developed by a lot of very creative individuals. Testing in a simulator environment offers the ability to quickly make changes and test in what is the closest to real life you can get without throwing your leg over a bike.

Never heard of that but it sounds cool.

My first thought is... WTF?

I commend you for trying it. My only major concern is design. Remember only .001% of the MX population can handle something that looks like what you have seen on TV without needing a trip in the Boo Boo box to the nearest surgeon. R.S. sections take almost perfect timing to execute without injury (unless scaled down of course) and that timing takes 1,000's of hours of seat time to acquire.

With that being said, mild rollers, spaced farther apart than normal, step on table tops with very forgiving landings, step offs with plenty of time before the next obstacle and a few wall jumps to slow it down.
I think you would need to build it with the average C class rider in mind and just be amazed what the really fast guys can do with it seeing how it is for a revenue stimulate.

The thing to remember here is we are not planning on making one like what you see on TV. It will be more like what you see at local tracks but just in straight rhythm form.

Right on Adam. I always liked your way of thinking. Miss ya man and the whole crew.

Route 62 is the first Ohio based track to begin construction on a realistic amatuer rhythm section.

Go for it CTMX. You folks will put the same effort and vision into it as you do everything else...it will be good.

BUT....incorporate it into the track and can be used separately. I give you the benefit of the doubt that that is already your plan.

This idea sounds awesome. I'm pumped to see how it turns out and actually make the venture down to try it out.
As far as design goes, make options! Nothing too crazy, maybe a section you can double double double through or triple triple if you're fast. Step on step off, big roller section you can wheelie through if you carry speed. Another thing that would be cool is some decent whoops, not too many tracks have them anymore I'm sure due to how hard it is to maintain them. Another thing is the walls they put in on the redbull track. One or two big tables or single to table doubles would be fun too.
Props to you guys for building something unique that not too many people can say they have gotten the chance to try. Good luck and happy track building guys! Can't wait to check it out.
Advertise the hell out of it too I'm sure it will draw a large crowd if marketed properly to the public and racers

John, great question. What classes should we have. Our goal is to build a track fun for all ages and skill levels.

The class structure needs to stay simple if you ask me, A, B, C, 125, 2 stroke, Vet, supermini, 85, 65, 50.

Are quads gonna be doing it too? IF so, keep it simple for them too

Time qualify. Seed every participant. Give handicaps. Makenit a dynamic structure that might allow a sr peewee to beat an A Rider given seeding and handicap. So that the best improved rider wins. And sandbaggers/peddles are disqualified.

Noatter how you break it up there needs to be a championship round where the winners of each "class" meet. So here is a question. It not motocross so can you win cash and still be classified as an amateur? Don't want to knock some sandbagger out of their 8th year in the C class
