honing cylinder

i have a 06 crf450 & was wondering if its ok to hone the cylinder? i'll be using a lisle glaze breaker cylinder hone,its the bar type with medium grit stones

I did the same thing to mine. From the research I've done, those hones aren't hard enough to break through the hard cylinders. You can run a hone for 24 hours straight and not measure any change in bore. The whole point is to break the glaze with cross hatch so the new rings get a nice "new" surface to bite into. After you hone, use brake cleaner and blue shop towels to clean it out really good. Then use hot soapy water and wash it. Do brake cleaner again...repeat a few times until you are confident that the cylinder is clean.

Looked awesome when I did it to mine. Rings were able to seat good to.
