2007 yz250f question

My sons motor locked up last night durning a race and when we took it apart we found the clutch plates shattered now the piston will move up and down but at a point it will feel like it will grab but then still move. The question is should the crank be taken out and checked or should it be ok?

2007? Probably has a good amount of hours on the crank I would guess. At this stage you would be silly to overlook it. Welcome to the wonderful world of $1600 dollar motor rebuilds. I had a 06 and just did the crank. 100 hrs and looking back I should have done it sooner.
