I went into MJ USA in Columbus for the first time today. Below is the email I sent to them after my visit.

I came into the shop for the first time today, I don't think I will be back. First my friend was quoted a price of $90 over the phone for a wheel to be spoked, and trued. At the shop today we were told $180 (because they were spokes of better quality....). Next my friend found a shift lever on the wall and he said to me how over priced it was, one of the sales associates said he would sell it to us for less and that it was only priced that high for someone who was stupid enough to pay that much. I found a old flywheel weight in damaged packaging which was priced all the way down to $4.95, when I asked the sales associate if I could have it for the price marked, the other sales associate asked me "how about $40". I work in retail myself and if I make an error in marking then I sell it for what it is marked. So today I learned you mark your prices high in case "someone is stupid enough to pay that much", if you mis-mark a price you do not honor it and you quote a low price over the phone but then double it once someone is in the shop. I am new to the Columbus area and I will take my business somewhere else.
 
Welcome to Columbus streaks. We've been here many years and frequently support MJ and the Pony. Do yourself a favor and don't rule this shop out until after you speak with the owner Mike. If you were to bring this flywheel issue to him he would have just given it to you. He's been racing as long as I've been alive. Most of the guys who work there also race so their customer service skills might be lacking at times but they'll always work with you on a fair price.

I've been hard on the Pony at times about their pricing too but every time I go there I find goggles for $20 or a flexfit hat for $10 or the tire I needed in stock so I just pay retail and be thankful we have them here in Columbus.

i have to say that i am with you on that streaks. the one time i took my forks their for the "Special" they had going on, i felt that i got ripped off. it was only suppose to cost me $90 to get my seals and oil changed and it ended up being $180 he said the "D" rod was bad and had to be replaced along with all of the bushings (this is coming from mike the owner) so then i took my forks to a suspension speacialist and he couldnt even get the internals of my forks apart so therefore i know he didnt replace no "D" rod and i will never do business with them again. i have heard of others getting ripped off there as well... bottom line is STAY AWAY FROM MJS!!

I have to agree with ya on Iron Pony. From a convenience standpoint it's cool having a motorcycle superstore. (it's funny but my wife loves going shopping there!)
 
Not defending or taking sides. Just gotta say, I called for some parts for a John deere today (drive, coupler, and Flange, for hydraulic pump) at the dealership=Just under $500 online with shipping $240.00 Just like anything else. You have'ta shop around.

OH!!! and God forbid if you have to get it from NORTRAX...
