Okay riders, another exciting dual sport adventure awaits you. I know, you've been curious about them, what is a dual sport anyway? is it easy like simple trail riding? is it hard, are there trees, do I need a fully legal plate????? etc. etc. etc. I totally understand. I can tell you this, Yes, I think it's hard, yes there are trees among many other obstacles, and yes you will be tired most likely if you even finish. My goal is just to finish them completing all the sections but then again I suck so....

This event makes a return. It was canceled last year. this year it stages at the awesome Kaeppner's Woods. Great camping, lots of activities and I'm sure some awesome southern Ohio trails. Here's some more details:

Sept. 22-23, 2012
Nutcracker 200
Location: Logan, Ohio Bill Kaeppner

Does, IS, anybody reading these posts regarding dual sports or am I wasting my time? I feel like I'm wasting my time and no one on pitracer cares about dual sports. which is fine, it doesn't matter to me. But it seems like no one on this site is interested in this sport so I may disappear. no offense, just sick on logging in and well... no anything so.... might be disappearing. Pit, you may have been right. Now I see why you didn't have an enduro/dual sport section. that's okay, all the action regarding enduro's and dual sports happen on other websites/forums, i was hopeful that Pitracer, one of the best dirtbike sites out there, could develop this avenue of the sport.

When? September 22-23.
Where? Logan Ohio, 34070 Sutton Road.
Where can I stay? Free camping on site is available, with showers! Tent or RV! Several motels close by as well.
What is included? Lunch and dinner on Saturday, Breakfast and lunch on Sunday.
What do I need? a street legal bike, and an A.M.A. membership.
Please help us pass the word and make this another awesome year for the Nutcracker 200! Proceeds benefit local volunteer fire departments, which is one reason there is so much community support for the event, and we are able to open up trail on private land for you!

You have 2 options on Saturday:

1. Adventure Route, approximately 100 miles of side roads, dirt roads, forest roads, oil well access roads. Route begins at Kaeppner`s Woods on Sutton road, there will be a lunch stop along the way. Lunch is included in the price of admission. The route then ends back at Kaeppner`s Woods. This route is suitable for bigger bikes like an R1200GSA, KTM990 etc., inexperienced riders on small bikes, or anyone who wants to take it easy. 2 years ago a couple guys showed up on an old Honda standard and a Harley, and they did make it through.

2. Dual Sport Route, approximately 100 miles, same start and end point, again lunch along the route. This route will include more trail sections, many on private land. It will include many miles of single track. Quite a few sections of this route will be challenging. This route is suitable for more experienced riders on smaller dual sport dirt bikes like 450, 250 etc. Full knobby tires are recommended. If you were to attempt this route on something like a KTM 690 Enduro, BMW X-Challenge, or KLR 650 you better be a very very good rider. You should NOT attempt this route on a big bike like a KTM 990 or R1200.

Sunday is adventure route only. But I did hear there may be some trail sections added for Sunday.

This just in:
We have the route card in!! 70 miles to lunch and a 22 + mile trail loop after lunch. We are working on offering a Sunday only trail option.
Sign up starts at 7 AM Saturday. Riders meeting 8:30ish. Everyone leaves after the riders meeting.

I'm reading 'em. Just haven't been able to make 'em. In Teutschenthal, Germany, watched
Caroli and Searle beat up on the world MX guys today. Maybe in October I'll get to one. Really
want to and hope you keep posting, even if nobody is responding.

Go fast. Take chances

Just because nobody post replies DOES NOT mean nobody`s interested.
Look at the post viewing #`s :)
Flint Ridge DS 1700+
BSA Rally 2500+
Baby Burr 800+ etc.,etc.
I`d have to say there IS some interest and I know bunch of people who do these rides but they don`t post or are not registered on Pitracer.
So keep it going!!! :)

Awesome you guys, you pumped me back up. My shallow ego can be deflated to easily, but it was nice all the guys that busted my coco's this weekend for posting such an agry post. but guess what, I think we are breaking through. Rob McClain was seen in the crowd at the rider's meeting. This is a hint hint for you guys, get out there. Rob Sr, was it tough or a walk in the park? I found it challenging, it's hard to ride after lunch I find. it was approx. 70 miles to lunch with a couple gas stop options, then lunch, then a 22 mile woods section that was tight, brutal and beautiful all at the same time. What a great event. Bill Kaeppner and crew, good job!!!! Lookin' forward to next year. and the hog roast was great on Saturday night, I froze my coco's off and some rode the 22 mile woods section on Sunday as well -- twice! Let me see if I can figure out how to upload photos again.

The last section was really nice. I would have liked to run it 2x but I lost my gas cap some where after the 1st gas stop. Hey if any body found a honda gas cap let me know. As my good buddy riz told me "what a rookie mistake".
Zip ties and a water bottle made a make shift cap.

Dave? do you want to answer this? it's a cool, "double-bubbler" vented gas cap system. totally custom and very expensive. I mean you have to buy two pepsi's to make this work, and the duck tape? that can be expensive. Good news is his leathers are really clean around the crotch area. lol.

Here is a good helmet cam from the Nutcracker 2012. I might add, the ending is very very disturbing. Didn't see that coming on the trail...

This is a another good video form the Nutcracker. This event was some beautiful virgin trail for sure. check it out!

Did it work? I guess the answer is yes because I did finish the ride. On the other hand I ended up with a sticky mess all over the bike.
Its cleaned up and ready for the next ride.

New gas cap (billet) has arrived. I think I need lanard (strap) from tank to cap

Well the AMA has posted the photos from the nutcracker, check em out. I hope there is a photo of me in there, i need my ego stroked.

enjoy these, I think they are great!

Love that JT helmet. Rob's my hero, I once bought a 1980 Husky CR250 off of him. Glad to see him there. hint hint fellow pit family, come on out and try a dual sport.
