Jon has this one! The end of the Mayan calendar symbolizes a new beginning......It doesnt represent an end of things as we know it and certainly not the end of the world. But that is just one interpretation I read.

Or it's just about when they got wiped out. The calandar makers stopped going to work that day because their civilization went into shambles..... (that seems like a more logical theory--to me anyhow.)
