How much pressure on a power steering line?

I have an old rusted steel line on my Mitsubishi Montero that is leaking and want to splice in a rubber hose. I'm not sure how much pressure is in the line when turning. Could I get away with just a hose and some hose clamps?

If it's the pressure side, I wouldn't chance it...your patch could fail causing steering problems....you don't want that at speed or if you are far from home. Plus it could burn up the pump if it blows all the fluid out and you continue driving it.

Why not just spend the $50 and replace it?

If it's the return line, pressure is much lower and a patch could be used.....just my .02

You could use steel braided line possibly but the problem would become getting the clamp to hold the hose to the steel line with no barbs on it. The return line will be no problem, but remember to use hose rated for the oil. If not it will swell and fail quickly.
