Battle For Ohio - Malvern
"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal."
Abraham Lincoln - The Gettysburg Address - Nov. 19, 1863
We have come along way since those perilous times in America. A war was waged by blood shed in the North VS South over freedom from slavery. The country was divided and freedom came at a high price. This moment was a major turning point in our American history for the land of the free and the home of the brave. A total of 51,112 troops died at the Battle of Gettysburg and 624,511 troops died during the Civil War. The Civil War is the most costly war in amount of deaths, trumping Word War 2 by about 220,200 American Deaths. A soldier in the Civil War had about a 1 in 4 chance of surviving. The North won which began the demise of slavery in America while bringing forth new expanded bounds of freedom and thank God for that.

Today we wage war by shredding roost at the crack of the throttle; not by blood or gunshot. The opportunity is afforded to us by all those who have fought and stood for freedom. While not as dramatic as the Civil War, it is a war of North VS South upon the battlefield of Motocross in Ohio! You may say there is civil unrest within our Motocross betwen bikes and quads, but that ought not to be so and is a battle for another day. Right now the question is...Who will roost to victory for the claim of Ohio Motocross Champion? The North maybe? Or the South? Or the dreaded Invaders; which are those who do not live in Ohio? I stand on the North side of the line. After the roost has fallen, after men and woman have exhausted themselves from the drop of the gate to the checkered flag, the North gave a heavy blow to the South in the first round of this 3-Round Battle Scenario. Upcoming Battlefields will be Chillitown MX and the final round at Briarcliff MX.

Since this is a battle in the midst of time with civil peace and freedom in our land; the North, South and Invaders all love Motocross; every fallen soldier is taken to heart. Recently a South rider named Deegan Bee took on heavy injuries that has changed his families life forever. Deegan went down hard at Dirtworld MX resulting in a pretty serious brain injury. He is now at home recovering and on his way to being himself again, we have had a family withdraw from the frontlines of Motocross. Jeremy, the father, has been a staple at Malvern with about 20 years of service helping with the track, along with Summit Indoors and the Faircross Races. Within our MX Family, this Battle Round 1 was a fitting way to help this family with our love and sacrifice. It started off with 240 eggs being viciously thrown at me Saturday night, and I do mean viciously as some of these kids showed no mercy and were throwing as hard as they could towards the most vulnerable of spots...always wear protection! The MX family gave selflessy to the cause of Deegan, thank you all very very much on behalf of the Bee family. They have a long road to travel and you can obtain their address at sign-up to send them cards/letters of encouragement or make donations to help them out. They need our love most of all. We have to and should help each other!

One of the Generals in OMA, Jason Rogers, fought long and hard on the mighty steel tracks of an earth moving and ground shaking dozer to hinder all efforts of the incoming rain. That man spent hours Saturday preparring the battlefield for the MX soldiers to wage war for Ohio! The rain never came, but great track conditions did, and war was waged. Also, the flaggers were attentive and alert to fulfill their responsibility of protecting the lives of the riders. The crew works hard and the crew succeeded!

Many battles were fought, some lost and some won. One battlle in particular between two riders in the Open A class with $3,000 up for grabs high-lited the days event; Steve "Roman Candle" Roman (Invader Rider) and Mike Mcdade (North Rider) met again in a face-off of throttle-twisting, roost-flinging, berm-busting, high-flying MX war! Both riders heavily armed with 450cc's of raw power and packed with high-speed talent went to battle upon the moistened, loamy, rut-forming paradise of a motocross track; Malvern MX! Roman would grab the holeshot in moto 1 and roost to a unchallenged victory while Mcdade was left back in the pack off the start to fight his way into second unable to get to the rear wheel of Roman-Candle! Moto 2 had these two men fired up and ready to go! 30-second board is up, gate drops and their goes Roman into the early lead with Mcdade hot on his tail. The stage was set, the battle was on, the throttles were wide-open. Mcdade pushed and prodded in the opening laps pressuring Roman. The crowd was on their feet, cheering and watching the race unfold to a victororious end. Who would it be we thought? Roman then Mcdade or Mcdade then Roman. The onslought continues, berm to berm, jump to jump, fan to fan, one breath to the next! BAM! In one fowl swoop Mcdade takes the lead! The crowd cheers, arms go up for these two riders! Here comes the white flag, Mcdade inching away, one-lap to go, Roman still has a chance. Checker flag is thrown! Mcdade wins!!! Roman Second and Evgeny Mikhaylor (Invader Rider) takes the final overall podium position! Congratulations MIke Mcdade! Thats 1 for the North and 0 for the South and Invaders! BRAP! See you at Briarcliff where the final Battle for Ohio Round will be waged!
