So your anecdotal evidence and my anecdotal evidence don't jive and I don't know
why. You got a lot of young guys that the plan was (Obamacare plan), as I
understand it, to raise their rates to make it so guys like you, with health problems,
can still afford it? Everybody in my group is healthy but there aren't any
younguns except for family members. We're all in our 40s and 50s.
I thought I'd have to look at that too but what it ended up being, that's not necessary.
So I read that and now I need to put on my aluminum foil helmet. What is certain is that
the article's thesis is correct. The solution Obama and his cronies really want, and that
would control costs, already exists - medicare. Let me buy into it, charge me full pop, and
I'm buying it. But the insurance lobby didn't like that and they bought enough
congresscritters to kill it.
Did you read about the states that did it themselves and Obamacare is working?
Feds poked the pooch, as I may have mentioned, and we agree on that. No
forgiveness for that.
You need to visit, even today, an old ex-communist country. You'd then see how far off the mark your
comment is.

Not that it needs clarification, (as you seem to be in favor of the current administration and plan), but my reference is to everyone working to support the government and they then decide what they will give you. We seem to only have minimal say in how much they take from us and what they give us for what they take. Reminds me of how communism was explained once upon a time.
Because until we elect representatives willing and able to repeal it, it's the
law. You'd prefer a dictat?
I'm not in favor of the current administration and plan so much as willing to live with them since
there's not much I can do about either. Yes, this is a representative republic so, like it's always
been, you only get minimal say in how the gov't does anything. But you get to state your opinion
far and wide.
Unless you have enough money to buy a congresscritter of course, then you've got a better chance
of setting policy.

I'm not sure how the current potentate gets to sit back and decide what he's going to negotiate (bipartisanship) and what he's not (dictate) but the "deal" to end the government shutdown was nothing more than a game of chicken. BO and Reid saying,"we're not budging, you're gonna take it" and the Reps blinked. Neither is worthy of leading the country. BO has little regard for the Constitution, since he uses Executive Order on any whim to bypass it so often. Nothing but a bully with an agenda. "Fundamentally change America"? Not liking this direction.

The dems ran on the healthcare system was broken, so it needed reformed. It didn't need reformed if 70% of the people were happy with it. The other 30% didn't like it, why? Because they could not get a job, or did not want a job with decent benefits? Is that the 70% fault?

And just in case it seems like I'm a socialist freak, I voted for McCain. Even though
his VP pick's only talent was in the VET fest boob thing. At best. Mittens on the

It doesn't matter what % of people had what...The facts are you are never going to be able to have a system that is fair with todays people. We have become a nation of "wanters" instead of the "workers" that built this country. We need $8/hr people in this world as well as Dr.'s and Lawyers, and scientists, and farmers and...etc. Some of them will be able to afford insurance, and some of them won't. Thats where the government should step in. Providing basic minimum coverage for less fortunate people. The people on welfare have better coverage than I do that I pay for and I pay for theirs with my taxes! DUH! Where is the incentive? The constitution guarantees (for citizens) the OPPORTUNITY to pursue life liberty and happiness. Where in there does it say if you can't find it the Government owes you it??? Thats the Democrats twisting it.
The root cause of the problem is the high cost of health care. That includes everything in Healthcare. That is where everything starts. Why is it so high?

The government has a direct link to each of these by having some type of regulation that is plain stupid. The free enterprise system works when it is left alone, but the government cant keep its fingers out of things. We need to hold doctors accountable for their actions, but suing at the drop of a hat for retierment purposes has become a way of life here. We need certain regulations to keep people honest (laws arent meant for honest people) but the strangle hold the government puts on the process is the reason everything is out of control. Until that is repaired there it no Obama plan, McCain Plan, Democrat or Republican Plan that can ever work. Attack the cause if the issue and the problem will take care of itself.
Our founding fathers warned us about big government but we are too stupid to listen to them and keep voting the idiots in that can "give" us the most instead of working for what we have.
At each election these days there is a battle... And in the battle between Freedom and Free Stuff....Free Stuff always wins.
Our nation is still the greatest in the world...but boy are some of us stupid. There are signs all over the national parks and area that have frequent wildlife/human interactions telling us not to feed the animals. They will become dependant on that source of food and become inable to provid for themselves and perish. Then they extend the unemployment benefits to 99 weeks and increase welfare to new highs. That, my friends, is insane.

Very well said flyin polack. I have always felt that understanding the rise in healthcare costs over the last 10-15 years or so is necessary to making healthcare affordable. As far as I can tell, o-care does nothing to mitigate those costs. More government intervention is almost never the answer to any problem.
