I just caught wind of this...don't follow politics at all really...but this is flat out scary and unconstitutional! Obama has got to go! This allows him to detain anyone for any reason he sees fit! I sure wish I could roost him to voluntary resignation! He totally disregards what this country is founded upon...FREEDOM AND CIVIL LIBERTIES!

The problem at the federal level is that most law makers use the excuse that they had to pass a bill for another reason, and something else was tied to that bill. It is all crap. That's how 99% of all the pork is passed, because it is tied to another law.

If you're suspected of being a terrorist you have no rights, and no warrant is needed to search anything you own. Obama was probably upset he doesn't get the credit for that one! That's a sheep pleaser all day.

I don't understand...please explain!

I have met people that willingly choose to not think about the status of country and things around the world because it scares them...they would rather just be ignorant to all the corrupt non-sense and live a life free of concern and thinkin everything is gonna be ok! That thouht process is not helping anyone. Also, it seems like my generaration and below in many ways is walking in blindness to what is really taking place...partially by influence of movies, school, games or whatever else that keeps people distracted from recognizing the true nature of this world. It is indeed scary to think about and it begs the question..."What can I do?" This is excatly why I am involved in motocross, I can't change the whole world, but I can be amongst you folks and keep it real. It is also exactly why I need to be a preacher! What is really taking place is the Battle between Good and the forces of darkness which is the overall theme of the Bible...but hey, as long as we don't talk about politics or religion, we can be friends...well you see where that has gotten us...a society living in ignorance and unwilling to uphold what is right...we say let it be, do what you want, chase after money and a career, do what makes you happy, follow your heart...but forget real life issues...it's all gonna be ok! I don't mean to be dogmatic...we need to work and all that for sure, but not without knowledge and action of what is really going on!

This law is also against anyone that would be a threat to national security...preachers are being attacked at what they can actually say at the pulpit...nearly every single person that has stood for what is right in history in our country has been sought to be killed. I could go into the street and preach about bad or complacent things and be more widely accepted than telling the truth. Its all backwards!

If you want to really gain some perspective...get into some life conversations with well-grounded senior citizens...they know whats up!

Exactly! There is nothing laid out to say what the definition of that is either. So like Jarrett said those who stand up for the right thing can be called a threat. Guess what? You disappear....no trial, no explanation .... you are just gone.

I cant understand why people arent going ape s**t about this constitutional right that we just lost!!!!! This was one of the main reasons our forefathers fought for independence from England! I posted on FB about this and got 3 responses. I can post an MX related article and get 20. Thats messed up. Good bye democratic USA hello socialist republic.

BTW...all of us bitching about it are being watched by the NSA already!

So what is it in the NDAA that you think is unconstitutional? The part about indefinite
detention? That has been the law of the land since Bush's first term. Indeed the NDAA
for 2007 gave the president sweeping new powers to declare martial law in addition.

The first NDAA to actually codify indefinite detention was the 2012 version (where was
the wailing and gnashing of teeth then?) but it made legal what had been
happening since 2002. The Supreme Court even said it was constitutional (Hamdi
v Rumsfeld) to detain american citizens as long as they were given due process.

The supremes I think will be deciding this, I know that Hedges v. Obama has been submitted
to them but can't find anything saying that they've been granted certiorari. For sure
the appellate court has allowed the law to stand after the circuit court struck it
down.

Why any of the above means Obama has to go is a quandary. Maybe you have
other reasons that provide a better argument.

I ain't no expert and don't wanna be when it comes to politics...you are way more educated in this type of thing than I am judging by your post...I stand to learn a thing or two from you...but all the things surrounding him since day 1 makes this man untrustworthy in my eyes...mainly him over-stepping the constitution in a variety of ways. The man just isn't honest or loyal or a patriot. All his actions point to him not being a good president...I am a simple man and live a simple life and help those that I can!

Yes! I need to be more educated about these things...not an expert, but a citizen that is aware!

Are you kidding me???? I thought you were an educated american citizen!!

You are correct in your statement that the 12 version made what we had been doing since '02 for the war on terror and for decades before with people the government decided were a threat to the USA. BUT....and a very very big BUT ....the thing ALL of those detainees had in common you ask??? They were NOT citizens of the USA!!!!

The 13 version specifically states that US citizens are also allowed to be detained indefinitely without due process if they are considered a threat. There is no definition of threat in the law. What does that tell you? The Gov is now allowed to do what our founding fathers ran from, one of the main reasons they fought for our freedom from England for. The Gov is now allowed to do what other communist countries that we go to war with ( Iraq, Iran, Afganistan) do to their citizens they consider a threat. They simply disappear without a trace. Notice how Obama is already calling those who oppose his views as radicals trying to bring this country down. Those people might disappear in the wrong political climate in the future now and it will be legal.

the gov is laying the ground work to be in total control of this country.

-Healthcare.....They want total control of that. Once they do they control us. Think about it carefully.
-Gun control.... Remove the peoples right to defend themselves from others AND the gov
-Basic needs....Slowly but surely they are giving people everything they need without having to work for it. Who is going to vote against that? Food, healthcare, education, housing, cell phones, utilities

Bingo Hershey. Can you say socialism? All these small steps in individual little steps are slowly, creeping closer and closer to Socialism. One day we will wake up and realize we are now have a socialized government.

More importantly by the government. Passing laws like this. Then people like you dont realize the the true implications until its too late.

The only thing incredible is dimbulbs who think this is no big deal, its no big deal to let the gov take over health care, its no big deal to lose our right to bear arms. It will be a big deal when my children arent able to speak freely about their feelings of their own countries problems without fear.

Im sure you think its no big deal that every single text, email, phone call and even this post are monitored ( or at least have been recorded ) by the gov.

Did you know that the 13 version of the NDAA gives appropriations for the facilitation of storage and examination of all of that? Im sure thats no big deal either.

Im quickly coming to the conclusion Sturd is a socialist.

And here I thought it was people that didn't understand the law before it was passed. And then
whine and wail that Obama (or Bush or Clinton or whoever) should be held responsible in spite of the
fact that they only sign off on the law. Congress passed it. They same guy you can call on the phone
and get a meeting with passed it. Yes, you can do that, I have.

And to top it off, aren't willing to research, read, and understand the laws they didn't know about
before hand so that they can call their congresscritter and bitch. Instead they listen to talk radio
and make decisions based on some fat drug addict's emissions.

Im quickly coming to the conclusion Sturd is a socialist.

Another well reasoned insight.
