Plessinger Captures Win in Baltimore

He needs to run SX. He would do well.

I don't disagree some are making OK money in AX, but the guys like Plessinger need to be in SX.

I think this is the first year that the rookies need to run AX races before being able to get their Pro SX license and Plessinger is probably one of the first that will run AX to get his license so he can run SX East coast……..

Nobody is making money on a dirtbike these days.

Except for JS7, RV in SX
And Bowers in AX. But he's making tenths of pennies on the dollars compared to JS7 and RV.....

I disagree as far as SX is concerned. When pretty much every guy that makes the SX final has even a shoe sponsor, they
are making decent money. Not superstar money, maybe not even junior executive at a large
company money. But not bad for a 24 year old riding a motorcycle.

Last time I was absolutely sure of it, a trainer for SX guys, he had 4 of them at the time, charged
$100k each. While that was a while ago, 6 years now that I think about it, all these guys still have
trainers that make good buck, implying that the riders can afford it.

Note that I am only talking SX guys that can actually make a final occasionally.

How many of them have made enough in the industry to afford a trainer like that?

How many of them already had the financial means necessary to obtain a trainer of that cost, or anything of that cost really?

What is decent money to you?
Have you walked through the pro pit ghetto? These guys are broke. Whose making money?? Even Alessi was crying two years ago about how expensive it is....without factory support it can't be done.....blah blah blah. So whose making money?

We need someone like Sellards to get on here and tell us what the guys in AX are really making. My guess is most of those guys are working another job and racing on the weekend.

My point exactly. If someone does not have a salary coming in, and have all expenses paid, they are NOT getting rich racing arenacross.

I don't think they're getting rich winning...........They're making a living. But for how long? 10 years? Then what? Land an Industry job through people you know? 30 years old is a late start to signing papers on a 30 year mortgage.....You'll never retire.

Crazy part is, as competitive as arenacross is it's so hard to have a day job and race on the weekends. These guys need to be in the gym and riding.....weekend warrior pro's are almost extinct.

Im not sure if I signed any before 30....maybe a few but the house Im in now I was 38. Watch your mouth you young punk!

Its funny how when you are young you think 40 or even 30 is old. You will see Baker

Our sport is really BS as far as what the Pro's are paid. There are more than a few true privateers that make the fast 40 and even the main event every weekend but they don't even come close to breaking even. If they were to finish in 10th place in the lite's class that still wouldn't come close to breaking even for the weekend. Think about all they have to pay for just to race that one night... everything! Bike, Mods., fuel, tires, tools, protective gear, entry fee, transponder, and on and on and on.

Think about the ball sport pro's, what do they pay for? Do you think they have to pay their entry fee to play the game or buy a helmet, shoulder pads, or even socks for that matter.

Man, I hate this racket we call Pro Racing!

weekend warrior pro's are almost extinct.

Thats the truth, you hardly ever see someone show up on Sunday, put a whooping down on the track, then head home and get ready for a 40 hour work week. Anymore, they travel right from the training camp to the track and back to the camp. The next step will be a small housing allotment within walking distance to a facility like MTF.

On Vital someone posted it cost $14.50 for a BEER in the stands at Phoenix. Are you EFFING kidding me? I paid $3 for a 20 oz gatorade at nitro circus and was not mad. And that was brought to my seat!!!! 98,000 pro purse? It costs $200 to sign up to race.....how many riders sign up? 100 between all classes? That's $20,000 just in rider charged entry fees to charge people to come into the stands to watch them race........
