Throwback Thursday dedication to Toronto SX in the glorious 80's!!! Pics of me & a few of the greats that were racing that night!!

See if any younger guys can ever guess who any of these guys are!! Don't think many guys of any age will get the Canadian pro's name in the pics (He won almost every national championship for the whole decade of the 8o's - Damn!!!

Now that someone has named all 3 racers (I know, like a dumbass I labeled the photos with their names anyway) here's some history:

Brad Lackey was both National & World 500cc Champion

Jim Gibson was part of the Gold Medal US Team for the Motocross des Nations in the 80's (when USA dominated the rest of the world for 13 straight years)

Right on man! He would race 125, 250, AND Open classes and win all 3! Absolutely amazing rider & the hardest working rider off the track in those days. He trained like all the current SX'ers do these days.
 
Guy in top pic looks familiar, but no guesses.

Think Pederson was national #56 in '89 or '90, right when I jumped neck deep into moto. That's why I paid attention to him then haha.

Have heard from many over the years about him being the GOAT of Canada.

Mathes is always throwing his name out, any chance he can on Pulp MX.
 
Lacky, Gibson and "Rollerball"!!

I raced Rollerball a couple of times during the 80's He was a hard working/drinking cowboy kind of guy. I did whip him once at a local AX race in PA once....

He was about to retire after this race and he was on his way home from Florida Winter series. I'm 99 in the center. He is number 78. I had to outsmart him in the race. He was tough as nails, and a tall guy, built like a tank. I didn't give him the opportunity to punt me that evening as I had just became married at 34 and well, I wanted to do well. Didn't even Kiss the honeys (back when that was done!) and got booed.

He was the toughest guy I ever raced at the farmshow. I won a lot there, but he was the toughest. He was that strong. No talent, as far as being smooth, he just rode the bike and bent it to his sheer strength and will.


 
Awesome story Greg! That would have been sweet to see! He was a legend in Canada and did more for Suzuki up there than any amount of advertising could have ever done.
