How do you feel about the decision of the players? I know I'm against them for what they are doing during the national anthem!

For anybody that truly wants to take a stand against Police brutality and help the Black Lives Matter movement I think there's a simple solution. Especially if you are black. Go to school, get enrolled in your local Police training academy, get a law enforcement job and serve your black communities.

Professional athletes and entertainers taking a stand in public on these issues are really doing it for personal attention for themselves. Getting their personal ego's fed.

I'm just gonna keep this short and drop it so I don't blow a fuse.

If you wanna make a statement do it on your own time. When the 60 minute clock starts.

Millions of black, white, Asian, any nationality stand in attention to that flag when they're out in the shittiest of conditions, thousands of miles away from everyone they have ever loved, eating MREs and getting paid $20,000 or so a year. And these NFL players where league minimum is 400,000 are making a statement about race/politics/something trump said?

Go on the field and entertain don't politicize sports.

I'm a die hard steeler fan and I go to atleast 1 regular season and 1-3 playoff games a year. I'm done. Eff them. Done with the NFL. Piss on 'em.

I will not be watching NFL this year. If all "professional" sports start choosing to kneel, I will not be supporting them in any way. I sure hope none of the CBJ players plan to do this. I will really miss watching and going to see them!

This is worth reading, and reflects my feelings. Stolen from Ohio Riders with credit to Heavyduty.

"Take a little trip to Valley Forge in January. If you don't know where that is, just Google it from the sidelines. Hold a musket ball in your fingers and imagine it piercing your flesh and breaking a bone or two. There won't be a doctor or trainer to assist you until after the battle, so just wait your turn. Take your cleats and socks off to get a real experience. Then take a knee.

Then, take one at the beach in Normandy where man after American man stormed the beach, even as the one in front of him was shot to pieces...the very sea stained with American blood. The only blockers most had were the dead bodies in front of them, riddled with bullets from enemy fire.

Take a knee in the sweat soaked jungles of Vietnam. From Khe San to Saigon... Anywhere will do. REAL Americans died in all those jungles. There was no playbook that told them what was next, but they knew what flag they represented. When they came home, they were protested as well...and spit on for reasons only cowards know.

Take another knee in the blood drenched sands of Fallujah in 110 degree heat... Wear your Kevlar helmet and battle dress... Your number won't be printed on it unless your number is up! You'll need to stay hydrated but there won't be anyone to squirt Gatorade into your mouth. You're on your own.

There are a lot of places to take a knee. Real Americans have given their lives all over the world. When you use the banner under which they fought as a source for your displeasure, you dishonor the memories of those who bled for the very freedoms you have. That's what the red stripes mean. It represents the blood of those who spilled a sea of it defending your liberty.

While you're on your knee, pray for those that came before you, not on a manicured lawn striped and printed with numbers to announce every inch of ground taken....but on nameless hills and bloodied beaches and sweltering forests and bitter cold mountains...every inch marked by an American life lost serving that flag you protest.

No cheerleaders, no announcers, no coaches, no fans...just American men and women...delivering the real fight against those who chose to harm us...blazing a path so you would have the right to "take a knee."

You haven't inkling what it took to get you where you are; but your "protest" is duly noted. Not only is it disgraceful to a nation of real heroes, it serves the purpose of pointing to your ingratitude for those who chose go defend you under that banner that will still wave long after your jersey is issued.

Was listening to talk radio after work yesterday on the way to pick up my granddaughter from school.
They were discussing how the Nascar team owners handled this verses how the NFL and their team owners are handling it. (and of course how Trump has handled it)

The subject came up of having soldiers marching the flag onto the field and then having a military fly-over before game start. At first they were questioning the NFL costs associated with this, only to quickly find out that the military pays to do this.

What a slap in the face to every armed services Vet in the stands and those watching on TV.

Watching The PBS News Hour last night, there was an interview of some NFL tail gater's on their opinions of the NFL "anthem objectors", (I won't specify as to their race, color or creed).
These bright folks supported the players right to do this and commented about how these players are risking their health and putting their lives on the line playing these football games for all of us.

The steeler that stood outside the tunnel made a statement saying he is embarrassed for what he did. And is embarrassed every time he sees that photo.

So apparently they threatened to cut him or some
Backdoor shady crap happened. Even still being a former ranger I can't believe he would come out publicly and say he is embarrassed. This is ridiculous.

I'm a Steeler fan also! Been one since the 70's and i get a call from my brother who is a retired Army vet of 20 years and did two tours! He is pissed at the NFL! The police force does not fight for our country! They protect and serve our cities and townships. In my opinion if you want to protest this issue, go protest it in front of your local police station.

There is some good debate on this over on OR if anyone is interested. With most basically saying that they are exercising their rights, and let them shoot themselves in the foot. Who cares.

Colin Kaepernicks quote: "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

Just playing devil's advocate as I can see both sides.

What rights are they exercising again?

Freedom of speech? Oh ok, that's ok because the media says it's ok.

But me carrying a rifle to a democrat rally and holding a sign that says don't tread on me is problematic.....

Freedom of speech is ok on the terms of the media. Kneeling during the national anthem or not coming onto the field before isn't freedom of speech. But the media will allow you to believe that this is a freedom of speech argument. It isn't. NFL is a private organization. They fine players for end zone celebrations. But hey...disrespect the country...meh, that's fine. ?????

These yoyos don't have an understanding of ineqaulity. We got me Lebron James telling me that I made a mistake in who I voted for. And compares it to him giving too many skittles to his kid and realized that was a bad idea because now she can't sleep at night. He's a bafoon too.

Are there bad cops out there? Hell yes !!! Too many to count. And they should be removed and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. But is there nationwide oppression toward blacks and people of color ?........ Hell NO !!! He's wrong about that.

And since when did freedom of speech protest include looting and burning down your own neighborhoods ?
Maybe we shouldn't police the black criminals in their communities, see what they think of that ?

They must be completely blind that there are many, many black law enforcement officers out there that put their own lives on the line, to engage many of these street criminals and thugs, regardless of the criminal's ethnicity. But of course the media doesn't want to cover any of that. There's no news story there.

How come it is that most all of these law enforcement brutality video's reveals A PERSON being unruly, un-cooperative, and usually resisting arrest? The criminal can brutally resist but the officer can't brutally restrain and arrest?

Aren't they at least appreciative to the really good law enforcement folks out there that do care and do a good job?

Again... this is all about lousy and corrupted news media, and Kaepernick's racially biased views and ego.
