First ever Pro National at LL

On May 4th the RLT announced that the series was tentatively set to be held from July 4th through October 3rd. This would leave only 13 days between the end of supercross and the start of motocross. As many states continue to roll out their phase-in plans, it became clear that a further delay in the start of the season would be the most advantageous for the riders, teams, and the events themselves. The farther the series could push back into the summer the better for all. However, there is a hard start of July 18th, this being a live NBC broadcast date – television coverage being paramount for series and team sponsors.

The new plan is to commence the 2020 season on Saturday, July 18th at Ironman Raceway and end on Saturday, October 10th at Fox Raceway. It is the intent to host 10 events and possibly 11 by the end of the season. Series organizers have consulted with OEM partners and have been advised that given the unexpected boost in off-road motorcycle unit sales and parts and accessories over the course of the last month (with many dealerships and after-market companies experiencing record sales), it would be premature to cut the season short at this time. The better approach would be to give the national tracks time over the course of the summer to see if their states relax their requirements to enable them to hold their national event. We are hopeful that some historical venues may be able to return to the schedule but recognize that others may not. Hence, the schedule will be rolled out on a month-to-month basis as racetracks and state officials continue to develop their plans.

Besides the Ironman and Fox Raceway dates, the Series is prepared to announce a surprise for the 2020 season. For the first time ever a pro national will be held at Loretta Lynn’s on the historical AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship racetrack in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. The national will be held in August and will serve as a sort of homecoming for pro riders who have graduated from these familiar grounds. Though Loretta Lynn’s is not a traditional pro national venue, these are not traditional times, and series managers are working hard to schedule nationals at venues in states that are open for business.

In addition to the above, it is the current plan to include the following traditional venues on the schedule: Washougal, WW Ranch and High Point. These venues are located in states that have established clear phase-in guidelines that can be timely met. In addition to Loretta Lynn’s, it is highly likely that two more new venues will be added to the schedule based on the states where they are located. Dates will be rolled out at a later date.

All events, no matter their location, will be conducted with fans with elevated social distancing protocols in compliance with CDC guidelines and as recommended by the Safe-to-Race Task Force. These protocols, currently under development, will be announced at a later date.

If they park the teams in the large lower field, I can't wait to see what happens when it rains and floods! Lol

Seriuslt though, I don't see that as a good national level track. There aren't any technical jumps for their ability and its flat.

It will be interesting though

Fantastic idea. Make it even better and run the pro race in the middle of the Amateur national. They get put in the parking spot lotto like "everyone else". 3 motos over 4 days. Float down the creek next to KRoc. Ride through the pits on a way too fast and way too big golf cart with Toesmack. Reed's old lady is in the chili cook off. Anderson is in the karaoke contest.
For real. That could be the BEST thing to happen to moto in a very long time. Where is the down side? All motocross people unite.

It’s actually tougher than some national tracks imo, just doesn’t have that look to it. I’d be curious to see if they do add a more crowd pleaser of a jump that meets the pro quota of the fans though.

I’d put it on a similar scale as WW Ranch since both are flat (granted WW hauled in some hills).
Should make for some good racing none the less and surely a special one to watch that all racers will truly appreciate.

I don't see this being a good track for a national. But obviously they need to go to states open. Muddy creek is still on schedule, right?

Downside ? Parking.
Agree. But I have a pie in the sky answer for that. (This means MX sport would make less money so its never going to happen, but here goes..)
Now stay with me here... What if they cut the numbers in each class back to 30 riders each? That cuts the number of entries by nearly 30% and free up a bunch of space.
Now, if you finish 36th in the first moto, your chance at a top 10 is all but gone. Yes, I know if you get 30th out of 30 it is gone also, BUT Its a national CHAMPIONSHIP. Not a national for 32nd...
Second option (also a pipe dream cause it costs MX Sport money.) Cut the number of classes. Lose all but 1 C class, all the "Sportsmen" crap, two of the 50 classes, a redundant supermini and a Schoolboy 4-stroke class and BAM! down 30%.
Third Option (my personal fav) reduce the amount of allotted space for each entry. Everyone gets the same size. If its 10X30, or whatever the area evenly divides into. And that all you get. Want to drive your 40 foot mega camper and a 20 foot trailer for your kid to ride in the 50's classes? better make it in 2 classes or your not fitting.
And no more 4 wheel pit vehicles. This aint no damn quad national.

This would then leave plenty of space for the Pro's. Heck, most of them are in semi's so they can just pit in the trucks the factories already have.

Fun to think about. Never going to happen cause it costs money... but still fun.

I'm curious as to when.....?.....before amateurs, or after the atvs?.....has to be before amateurs. And can Eli quad into the 10 Commandments on the outside? 4-4-2?

I mean you guys don't seriously think they're running during amateur week do ya?

I say after.
Because the TV crew is already set up and they'll rebuild the track to better fit the pros.

I wouldn't mind sticking around 1 week to watch that, if they would let us stay in our camping spot. Of course the camping fees would probably $1000 for that week, lol.

I am hearing that perhaps this is the last go around at Lorettas and that 2021 could be at Ironman, a little earlier than planned.

Muddy Creek is in TN. Why would they not put Muddy Creek back on the national schedule this year? Bad blood between the owner and the series or something?

If I remember right Muddy Creek completed their national contract and was not interested in continuing.

Personally, I think LL is awesome to see on the schedule. Who cares if it is really a "pro track" or not? Let them race it and see what happens!

I would love to see a rotating National schedule where tracks shift around. Like take 36 tracks and rotate the schedule around --- 2 years on schedule, one year off. Every year same tracks over and over gets boring to me.
