Will the Dung return to racing?

Sounds like Ryan Dungey is flirting with the idea of racing supercross in 2021. He wants to do it on a Honda with the help of outside sponsors. Will be very interesting to see if this happens and how he does.

I am all for old dudes coming back, Especially if it not taking a factory ride away for an up and comer.
The part that I cant get past, if this has any chance of at all being true, WHY Honda? He was part owner of the team for 14 minutes and then quit... Perhaps during that 14 minutes he realized he was still twice as fast as the current riders and sold off to clear the path for a return... Maybe RC is coming back on the same team.... Hey, he just split with Suzuki and has been training. Maybe Stew is coming back on the same team as well... He has been training with AC and Sexton.

Can you imagine a team of Dung, RC and Stew? It would break the internet. (The moto part, not the porn part)

Essentially he went out on top, and he broke his neck. I don’t see him putting himself back in that stressful mindset with a family and all of his philanthropic engagements he does.

What is he to gain ? He’s already proven he’s one of the best ever. Possibly the smartest racer ever....knew how to control his emotions on the track and back it off to settle in for a 3rd when it meant he still has the championship. Or kick it up a bitch when he knew he needed more passes (Remember reaching down and yankin that shifter with his hand ?) One of the greatest riders of all time.

why does a guy so calculated in everything he does.....get back into the unknown on a machine and a brand that is new to him ? That to me screamsearly mid life crises for him—-ORRR ITS ALL CLICK BAIT bullshit.

I’m going with it’s click bait.

I actually heard Bevo Forte ask Jason Thomas if he had landed Ryans come back in fly gear at Ironman. I think there is a chance he comes back. I think the biggest hurdle is getting the cash to do so. The 2021 season is going to look a bit different. Geico is leaving Honda and no longer sponsors motocross after this season. Answer racing has been around forever and they are done after 21. It takes a lot of money to do this with little to no return.

didn't Answer just clean house last year & hire all new staff or am I confusing them with someone else?

Dungey is not making a comeback. Mark my words.

RC split with Suzuki? Had not heard that. Wonder what color bike he will buy? White? I bet he heard Mosure and Kreps ditched the yellow bikes and decided to do the same after seeing Kreps at Taco Bell and talking to him.

The only reason Ryan won't be back is that he could not get the sponsorship (Gear, Energy Drink, Large Dept store, etc) he needs to make it work.

In 2017 between Kenny getting busted up and his own neck injury, he was "over it". But retiring before age 30 isn't as glamorous as it would seem. He has kept himself in shape. What i do know is he has a "good" offer from Honda but it is a low salary, high bonus offer. In order for Ryan to take the risk, he will need personal sponsors to subsidize the salary. Trust me, if he can get the $$$$, he will be at A1 or wherever the first SX is.

Sheesh. Looking at that spin off it sounds like dungey doesn’t like the * behind his retirement.

* “he held on”
What’s wrong with that though ? Doing what you need to do get it done....that’s probably why he went 10 years without a major injury. Everyone going for broke...sooner or later you go out just like that.....broke.

I still think he’s nuts for getting back in it. But this sport is mostly risk without reward so I’m not surprised. All the pros seemingly are drawn in by that pheromone.

Js7 can add no value to today’s motocross.team No value. Will he teach them how to crash? Do the sprinkler? How about take out real championship contenders by riding out of control. Impersonate police?
