Operation rebuild - Loretta Lynn's

MX Sports makes it sound like they collected sponsors or donations to help rebuild Loretta's after all the flooding last year. Like they don't make enough money off of the ranch.

Wonder if they will truck in tons of sand or if the track surface will be a little different this year? I saw videos, and literally the whole property was covered in river bottom rocks. Might be a little different this year.

If the funds are going to the community than great. I have a hard time believing the ranch didn’t have insurance. Let’s ask for donations so MX sports can hold an event and make an ass load of money.

there’s interest and it happens. So, who am I to judge.

do wonder if the sand was washed away and maybe the tracks dirt will be like it used to be. But I can’t imagine all that sand got washed away. Who knows

The video I saw, the whole track is littered with huge river bottom rocks every where and boulders. They can rock hound it for months and probably not get rid of all of them.

The videos you just posted show sand on the track, and river rocks all through the parking.

Honestly, this rebuild might end up causing them to actually make some improvements to the pits/camping area finally.

The track? Whatever -- they will fix all that and they truckload in a million tons of sand every year anyway.

They should take advantage of the opportunity and put in like 2000 water and electric hook ups. You would think by now they would have done that.

Here's the problem, its all floodway and floodplain.......to borrow a phrase from the basketball community "YOU CANT DO THAT". Its back to age old problem and suggestion......shouldnt have built it there in the first place.......Its flood prone. Now this time was an anomaly, I get it, It normally isnt that bad......BUT there are 100-year and 500-year flood projections for a reason.

What they could have done, is raise the entire track and beach/pit area about 3-4 feet and mitigate that by cutting or adding the flood plain back into another part of the property to offset flood plain that's getting filled in. Like a swap of sorts. So maybe over closer to her house where there is hill that isn't in the flood plain, could have been an area to consider in this mitigation. Yeah lots of work, but it could possibly reduce the chances of this happening during a race. But I'm just some danged ol dirt farmer.

I understand what the term 100/500 year flood means since March 2020. Lost a camper in this one. Luckily ended up making out on that, but set backs otherwise...still haven't gotten everything going again from it. Granted, what happened at Loretta's waaayyyy worse. Feel for those peeps:

haha House isn't worth it, besides cannot modify/build much of anything per zoning/flood plain rules. You'd probably understand that more than I do. Guess maybe good thing is its walls are all concreate block, so no structural damage best that can be seen at this point.

My sister lives next door and has been there since '83. Never been that bad. We had some come up in the yard in July 2017 which is typical every 3 to 5 years and really no big deal, but this one just kept coming. Got into garage and filled up basement. Inch from first floor. Definitely thought about packing up after this one, but in the end time calmed me down a little. Watered little practice track pretty well... The culvert collapsing on 79 that the car fell into had something to do with this one. I do not feel it will ever get this bad again in my lifetime, of course it could happen tomorrow...

It reminded me of that flood in Nashport (2010?) when we lived on the hill and the water was over 146 after 586 on the way to Zanesville. Made that section of road look so flat/level.... The water in the pics above came up and flushed out within a couple hours...leaving muck, a mess, work, and questions behind it... True fun it is. ;)
