MERPs?

Planning on Sunday. I can't remember if I did one last year or not, might have been 24 last time I did some.

I see the forecast and I know how the woods get there. If it doesn't pour, id consider it lol. So bummed the Western Reserve one is no longer.

I’ll be there with the electrix boys. If you see me stop by and say what’s up. Will be racing electrix class, and 30+ and Warrior.

Heading to Burg in a few min for the noon session and then the 2pm session. Should be fun, haven't run a MERP in a bit.

Ill look for pics before i decide on a 2pm rip. Probably going to go to Quaker and watch Dakotas little buddy race carts instead tho.

Track was sick today. Woods were mint. Yesterday for the team race they were greasy and were holding lots of water. Battlesburg is a cool track, first time there. Got to rip a Ducati and it had such a bad bog i took it back in after one lap and switched to the other bike which was awesome. The owner of battlesburg is a dick and most likely won’t return due to him. I’ve never wanted to punch someone in the face so badly as i did that guy lol.

You mustve caught him at a bad moment or something because usually Steve is cool af to everyone I see him interact with.

I don't even know who runs BBurg anymore.

The track today was probably the best condition I've ever rode Burg IN MY LIFETIME. It's usually so hard and dusty it was cool to ride it actually with moisture in the dirt and lines.

Overall I didn't have all that great of a time. Haven't ridden woods in a while, and these MERPS are just so heavily favored towards the woods that it was difficult for me. Woods guys going diagonally across the MX track while rolling jumps was fun too, was like all sort of extra obstacles trying to jump over them on the MX track without clipping them.

Back to MX for me for a while, probably till fall for an Amherst GP.

That was the first time I’ve ridden a MERP race and the woods were actually challenging. Lots of rocks and roots, and weird metal pipes. Woods were close to single track, but not quite there yet. Lots of hot lines developed which were nice. Mx track is fun like i said before. I was able to jump almost everything on the surron ultra bee i was racing, only thing i didn’t fully hit was the triple in the back. They run the electric class with the 30+C, 40+C and sportsman classes, we start 3rd row, and i ended up 1st overall on the electric bike.

I was behind you in the Sportsman class for the noon session. It was cool watching you guys rip off the line for the start, I'll bet those things are a blast out there.

I got a good start in Sportsman, then got hosed by someone trying to pass me that ate crap and of course fell INTO me and knocked me off into the trees. Took me what felt like forever to get going again, in last of course.

So the bike i race is 65hp, and it’s about the size of a supermini, with 21/18 wheels. The bike is only 170lbs so it’s very light. They’re definitely a blast to ride. The handling on them is amazing, I’d say it corners like a Suzuki 2 stroke. If you’re ever at a race we’re at come over and I’ll let you take the ultra bee for a rip so you can see how light and nimble it is.

merps have definitely become way more woodsy then they set out to be when they launched the series..

i like them, its a challenge for me (im really, really bad in the woods).. but it is fun getting passed by a buncha ppl in the woods and then blowing by them on the track lol

I tossed up a helmet cam lap of Burg.

Yes I have an old GoPro without stabilization. Yes I'm old and slow.

If you watch to where we enter the MX track, you'll see exactly what I mean about woods guys and going diagonal while rolling jumps. Dude started on left of track and I just head right to jump past him and he goes diagonal across right at me.....

Later in MX lap I screw up the whoops/doubles and Robin jumps right past me...
