I have not read it yet but I guess they are saying there is a article in dirt bike mag with a mention of a rumor of Honda bringing back the cr. At first I thought there is no way considering Honda said they are done with two strokes but when you think about it how much would it take to start making them again. Plus Honda has admitted either already having or working on a direct injected 2t.

There is also a post on there stating Suzuki will be bringing 2-Strokes back into the US next year.....

Honda still manufactures new CR style engines. The CR125 is used in shifter kart racing and the CR500 is used by Service Honda in the 500 AF conversions.

service honda builds the 500 engine from parts ordered. its a strong possibility that kawi will have a fuel injected 2 stroke in 2013 rumor has it

I know for fact (from working at HRA) that Honda will not produce a 2t again. Ever. Honda's corporate stance on 2Ts is "No." They would sell too few of them to boot. They will not re-tool a production line, nor will they re-create investment casts for a production run. These costs alone would eclipse the actual dollar amount needed to run at or near a profit.

As much as I would love to see it, it is NOT going to happen.

I would not be surprised to see Suzuki bring a limited number of RMs back in. Good thing I am picking up a "seasoned" RM250 for 1k. Sure it needs work, but it'll be good to smell premix again.

Never once rode a 2 stroke, believe it or not, but I hope the rest go back to making them. Not because I'm a huge fan or anything, but because it would somehow manage to help the whole sport out.

For real?!?!?! You need to do something about that.

Wow. That makes me feel like a 24 year old grandpa...."Back in my day.....we all started out on 2 strokes...cuz we was men back then...none of these fancy schmancy 4 stroke machines!"

I wish the AMA would add a 2 stroke pro class to their outdoor national schedule. They used to run 125, 250 and 500....so I don't see why they couldn't run Mx Lite, Mx, and Mx2t. I would love to see pros banging it out on 2 smokes for a championship!

Lets be real what pro would race two classes, they are having trouble racing 2 motos at the current level in our sport. If they made a 2t class it would end up being a privateer dominated class. Maybe the arenacross guys would stop going to Canada in the summer though.

That's alright, privateers are still really fast. I wouldn't mind seeing it as a pre stepping stone to the lites...

yamadogyz - You gotta fix that. I got a Yz 250 in the garage, just give me a heads up, you can take it for a spin. Go ahead and grab a rear fender on your way, just in case, ya know.

Yeah a two stroke class would be sweet. I'm sure it would be a stepping stone maybe or would have washed up guys in it but who cares. It would be cool to see since in sure the 450 class rules will never change.

And I agree with the one guy I can see Suzuki bringing the bikes back before Honda does but even though Honda wrote them off It does not mean they can ever reverse te decision. I saw a link to vital and some people were guessing if Honda did bring two stroke back maybe it would be a 300. If you think about it in harescramble two strokes are still very alive and we all know the ktm 300 is a best seller so maybe that is an option. If Honda is first to intodice a cr 300x maybe and its the first to have direct injection I'm sure people would be all over that.

Squirts the fuel mix directly into the combustion chamber.
Think fuel injectors rather than glorified carbs.

KTM is rumored to have a direct injection two smoke in 2012 maybe 2013 (so i hear from an inside source)? In my humble opinion if this happens two smokers will be back in the EPA's good graces...50 state legal....lighter, safer, cheaper than modern 4 strokes.....ahhh the hopeful return of grass roots moto!!!

So that is different than fuel injection on the pigs?
Yup, the carb becomes an "air" only metering device.<O:p</O:p
The fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber and never even enters the “throttle body”….(old carb area) <O:p
