Location is Camp Cattail and proceeds go to benefit community youth.

This was a fun HS last year and this year they are adding MX. No AMA/AHRMA Politics!!

The web page is a year out of date, Nothing on the AMA or AHRMA schedule that weekend so I'm in for the MX.

Anyone think we could talk them into including up to 83 Honda and 84 Suzuki and Yamaha in PV and or no disk brakes ok? That will help them in HS and MX I think as many of us have those bikes right? I think their structure looks like HS for AMA but I always thought it stopping at 82 for PV was just a typo or something. I also know people ride later model IT's in the HS at Mid Ohio.

I'll do it either way probably but it would make sense to do it the same as we have all built and done in the past to race to me.

Great - if you know them that is probably better. Below is the latest class they define as PV in AMA for MX. As you probably well know Kawi tends to get the shaft because they went with disc's in 82, Honda went in 84, Yamaha and Suzuki 85. A lot of guys HS up to an 85 IT because it didn't do it until 86.

Evolution 3 Classes: May have been produced with water cooling and have linkage type rear suspension, but they cannot have disc brakes or any power valve type mechanism built directly into the engine. Yamaha’s YZ 1982-1984 are the only eligible motorcycles allowed to use a power valve mechanism.

I heard back from one of the club members....it's safe to say final classes will be set up based on the AMA series. He concluded with "....we won't turn anyone away that has an old bike and wants to race. We will find a class for them"

I'm planning on racing 2 classes for both XC and MX.

Have been out at the camp all weekend and the trail could not be any better. The HS track will be more vintage friendly and around 2 miles long. The MX course turned out great and will be a lot of fun, 1 mile in length with singles and a lot of grass track, very nice.

I will try and get info out as I get it, we are non ama this year so bring your friends out to ride or spectate. As far as classes for the MX we are using the AMA strictly as a guide line, we are not going to have 22 classes for 39 riders but we will make sure that everyone gets to ride and has a good time. The track turned out great. The HS track is more vet friendly this year, as long as Fisher does not make mother nature mad everyone will enjoy it. We are planning a long day of vintage racing, we will start Vintage HS at 10 sharp and keep the program moving very quickly. If anyone has any questions I check site regularly and will get you an answer.

Kevin, I'm strictly an old MX guy, never been to your event but am looking forward to it. Just a suggestion on classes, you are right there is no need for a large number of classes with a small number of riders, however, a lot of us like the opportunity to ride a second class to get more riding time. Might suggest that you have a few bike type classes and then a couple of age based classes to provide the opportunity for a second class for most. Also provides significantly more revenue from the same turnout.

Kevin, thanks for the updates on the track prep. I thought I would bump this to the top of the forum to remind everyone.

I'm getting ready for what looks like a lot of fun.

Are the bike years finalized?

I'm in and just want to make sure I bring a bike that fits the cutoff dates.

I have a 1984 RM250 that I'd like to ride at your event but not fond of the thought of running against bike years that go up to 1998. Any chance of bikes with disc brakes being run in a different class than drum brake bikes?

I will try and get you guys some answers on the classes, I am not a member so before I say anything I should talk to the president. I was ask to come out and help with track but as far as the exact details about classes I don't know. I do know that they are only using the AMA classes as a guide line, and want everyone to be happy so I am sure that they will be easy to get along with. In saying that as you can tell with HS in morning and MX in afternoon that is a full day so I am sure that they will combine classes to get everyone track time. I am vintage but do not know a lot about classes, at Drews last year I rode 50+ expert and lined up with Maico 450's and several 250's, I am fat and rode a 1980 RM 125 and had a blast chasing the big bores around. I know that they are having a meeting Tuesday so should have answers then.

Maybe you already have this but if it helps here is a copy of the AMA classes. Note HS is first but I am certain they allow up to 84 in HS as long as there is no disc brake. On MX on pages 2 and 3 the cutoff for PV is basically that - no disc brakes. Then the class from 82 on Kawi, 84 on Honda, and 85 on a Suz/Yam up to 98 would be non current. As mentioned most of us PV guys ride 83 and 84's but don't want to run against a 98. It sounds like you guys are open so maybe you can wait and see what shows up as MX is not until the afternoon. It could be real simple like 77 and older V, 78 to 83/84, PV, up to 98 NC. Only have 125 and 250 to open classes with under 30, 31 to 49, and 50+. Looking forward to it no matter what.
