2016 AQ & Regional Schedule

Congrats to all the local tracks!

It does kinda sucks that the High Point regional and the Red Bud regional are on the same weekend. Was going to have my son try in both the amateur and youth regionals.

WOW! That is huge news. 6 big races at these three tracks! When was the last time Ohio had 3 qualifiers that close together for Lorettas? Anyone want to question the AMA association with OMA now? Great job to all three track owners.

Great to have all the Ohio tracks
Excellent that Sunday Creek is not one of them
Good to see the national kicked back to week 31 of the year.

Not sure why all the qualifiers are so early in the year given the weather.
Not sure why the regional for our area is 8 weeks ahead of LL.

Nothing in Kentucky is kinda odd given the recent success. Maybe 2017

Question for the OMA'ers. Are the quali's going to be part of the Spring / Buckeye / Tour / Trail of Tears / Pitracer Cup / Fashion Bug Fruckus Series?

We have talked a little about this, Im not sure wether thats a good idea. On one hand it sounds epic. However if we require OMA cards at the qualifiers, we might get shot. So if we are paying OMA points, we need to ask for memberships, it might be too sticky of a situation. More trouble than its worth. But still an idea nonetheless.

Off the cuff I would say no since a lot of people are not pursuing the LL dream (Just yet.) But you can still race at the qualifiers even if you are not trying to "qualify" right? Its been a long time since I went to a quali.
But, on the other hand, If these races are not part of the Fruckus, then that series will last until mid-summer.

You only need an AMA card to race it. If you want to try to qualify you have to pay an additional $10 to MX Sports on top of the race fee (at least that was last year's prices).

Yep you can race even if you dont try to qualify. Many people do this even if they are already "in", just to race big competition.

The points are already split into two; tracking the races and then the qualifier which is the race within the race. Allow folks to chase OMA points that want to. You don't have to worry about interfering with others racers on the track because they already race together...qualifying or not.

Basically...you want OMA points...then present your membership along with your AMA membership...if not, just the AMA membership is required to participate.

That sounds simple enough. Maybe then, the Ohio Qualifiers become MEGA Qualifiers since they have OMA year end points and LL area qualifying potential.

The only issue that I see is that the trackside software cannot pay points to certain people in each class. Or at least I doubt that it will. Then if you set up a certain race for just the points earning racers, then you might be setting yourself up for issues when a rider earns a 10th overall, but 3rd amongst the OMA points riders.

I will check into it, but in the past many good ideas die when given the trackside test.
