NORTHEAST AREA QUALIFIER
May 3 & 4 Steel City Export, PA 304-284-0084 (thought Steel City was in Delmont, PA?)
NORTHEAST REGIONAL
June 28 & 29 High Point - Amateur Mt. Morris, PA 304-284-0084

AND

MID-EAST AREA QUALIFIER
May 17 & 18 Briercliff MX Nashport, OH (spelling? Really? Damn MX Sports...)
MID-EAST REGIONAL
May 31 & June 1 Ironman - Amateur Crawfordsville, IN 304-284-0084

, but the begining of may I'll be just getting back on the bike... Maybe I can recover like I am 20 and I'll be ready in March or April...we shall see... :)

Great Job JO!! Well deserved!! ;)

Right now it looks like:
April 5[SUP]th[/SUP] & 6[SUP]th[/SUP] Action Sports for Ironman or maybe BC if the weather is crap for Action.
April 26[SUP]th[/SUP] & 27[SUP]Th[/SUP] Lincoln Trails for MC
And maybe May 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] & 4[SUP]th[/SUP] Steel City for HighPoint

There is no force on Earth or Heaven that could get me to do another Regional at High Point.

Congratulations BC and Action Sports! To be on the same list with Baja and Redbud is outstanding. Congrats Monster! Glen Helen! Podium One. Love or hate MX Sports, 4 out of my top 5 favorite tracks are on this list. I wish I could make it to every one of these races.

X2, All of the tracks I have been to on the list are top caliper tracks.

Hmm are you sure?

I hope this Vet261 is nicer than that Pit261!

I would love to go back to Lincoln trail!!! Chuck lOOOOOved that track. and his dog tooo!

Thanks Chuck (Day181). You guys have a ball at those qualifiers. I wish I could share in your enthusiasm, but I am strictly a local racer today.

I just don't get the hype. That isn't to say good or bad, just don't get it. Too bad your local racing doesn't get the same excitement as these races.

Local can be fun too. Don't forget the local tracks that treat you well!

Watch these vids and pay attention to how good the racing is. That’s why it’s so fun.
All the important stuff is there.
The gates are full of riders close in skill, the track makes for good racing and the organization knows how to put on a big event.

If you watch any of the vids from Spring Creek, they all have the same feel.

Cool. Still not excited for LL. I like full gates too, so I will continue doing local where we got a good program. You guys need someone to get it together, and it will take five years and you can have that at a local race too like we have around Dl/NJ/MD/WV. The guy at Briarcliff sounds like the guy to do that!

This is what we had for +50 (in age) riders with awards at the Masters ride/banquet day. Pretty damn impressive. Not everyone was present who got an award in +50. So what I am saying guys, it can be done locally also! <a href="http://s1325.photobucket.com/user/Greg_Wfo_Lykens/media/2013-11-02tmhwkmstrfnl062_zpsaed751fc.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u630/Greg_Wfo_Lykens/2013-11-02tmhwkmstrfnl062_zpsaed751fc.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 2013-11-02tmhwkmstrfnl062_zpsaed751fc.jpg"/></a>

Greg that would be awesome! Im all for it. However there still arent 40 guys your pace on the gate are there? Is there 800-900 riders there that weekend? Do your races have a national feel to them? From all the vendors to the next pro racer and former pro racers.

Making the regional is easy but it is at the regional that I get the feeling of a huge race, national caliber race. Its all about a large event AND your friends. Vetfest at Red Bud is like the type of races you hold, I love that race and will most likely always attend it. It still isnt the same for me. Hands down the best time Ive ever had at a race event was last year at Millville. It had ALL the components I mentioned above and great friends.

Where is the best place to find information on the Vet series you ride? I would like to check one out.....maybe attend a few!

Hmm...I could maybe work out something there and get work to pay for all or part of my trip to the IL rounds. I'm afraid Action Sports is just going to be to early in the healing process to race. I could have a month back on the bike if all goes well by then, but we'll have to see. Thinking if I can make a couple or one area and a regional I'll be doing good. Oh, and Vet Fest at Red Bud. ;)

Sure I understand all that and what you are saying. National racing has it's place for sure. No to most of those questions, but you already knew that. I'm just saying local racing can have most of those same ingredients of FUN!! We got a little help from other vet series out west, made mistakes and it took off last year.

Someone needs to commit to it. I started doing Masters in 2007, left in 2008 because of my young children couldn't race it (no minis) , came back in 2009, left for the same reasons again, and went back in 2012 and just stuck my then 14 year old on a 250. I am not the promoter, nor do I want you guys to think I do promote the series. It is just a great, down home series with a lot of regulars. We race Saturdays, since most of the guys want to attend church with their families ( and recover for the work week!), or go to other events with their kids. Most do the first option. Me included.

Just trying to share the why and how local racing can work. The national series cannot keep MX alive. The strength and backbone of this sport is the guys at the local tracks and the local track promoters. Support them or our sport won't be here...........

With that being said, I DO NOT support those tracks that have 55 classes of 3 rider entry fields, or the ones that treat vets to start, white flag and checkers motos. Those I stay home and practice, or drive to NY, New England, NC and race a good quality race.

Not sure about this, but I have read on FB page , Masters (50+) For Fair Representation at Loretta Lynn's National Am MX, Rick Write is already complaining about Muddy Creek again. I guess last year they had 7.5 minute motos. 3 laps. Don't know if this is true, as I didn't go, but if that's true that isn't racing, that's sprinting!

Just sharing guys. I am not bagging on the national racing at all. Maybe racing since 76 has me jaded, and I have come full circle and love local like I did when I started! Me and my boy just like local!

Side note: I plan on doing another Gobbler GP on Sunday. I'll be there on a street legal Dual sport YZ 450 (2011) riding with my headlight on. Come over and say hello before the 10 AM flag drop time. I'm easy to find.......

Stop blowing smoke. We both know you and I will not be making any of these races, no matter how much we pre-plan.

Haha! There's a 70% chance I'll make more than 2 of those. Maybe only a 50% chance I'll make them all, but thinking there is near 100% I'll be racing the BC Area and 90% chance I'll make that regional if I qualify. May be only a 60% chance I qualify being I am slower than molasses in the corners as of last week, I've hung up the boots until next year, and I'll be on the bike at most 2 months prior, more than likely 3 weeks prior, and I won't be taking chances...well, 60% chance of that...

See ya next year!! Well, 72.543% chance of that I suppose...
