Hot off the press, the AHRMA National schedule. Similar to this year, with a couple of nice changes the Pell City AL. race has moved to the spring. Its a really nice track and gives us northern guys a good chance to race in March. There is a new event at Trampas Parkers place in OK that has not been finalized, Also Gary Bailey's Lake Sugar Tree is still a possibility.

Really looks like a tremendous opportunity, particularly with the new regional races Dave Woolever has scheduled. Its up to ALL of us to support these tracks, encourage people to try vintage they will find it a fun, safe, and competitive environment. Here's the National and Great Lakes regional schedules combined.

If you only go to one event, make plans for Unadilla. Its definitely a bucket list item for any true MX rider.

    2/21 Cahuilla Creek, Anza, CA
2/28 Motocross of Marion County, Reddick FL
3/20 Mill Creek MX, Pell City, AL
    4/10 Diamond Don's, Jefferson, TX
4/24 Dirt County, Blanchester, OH - Great Lake Regional
    4/30 Devils Ridge, Sanford, NC
5/15 Delta Motorsport, Delta, OH - Great Lake Regional
5/22 Desoto Motorsport, Grand Cane, LA
    6/12 Unadilla, New Berlin, NY
6/26 Sky High MX, Old Appleton, MS
6/26 RT 62 Johnstown, OH - Great Lake Regional
7/10 Field of Dreams, Millville, NJ
7/24 McKee's Sky ranch, Terra Alta, WV
8/7 RT 62 Johnstown, OH - Great Lake Regional
8/14 800 MX Park, Hopkinsville, KY
    9/4 Delta Motorsport, Delta, OH
9/25 Arkansas Dirt Riders, New Blaine, AR
10/2 Dirt County, Blanchester, OH - Great Lake Regional
    10/23 HLR Motorsports, Moberly, NO
    11/13 Rio Bravo, Houston TX
TBD.... Lake Sugar Tree & Trampas Parkers race.

Looks good to me. Mike did RT 62 take 10/2 from Dirt Country? The Great Lakes FB page still shows DC.

Thanks Bill my typo, I fixed it. Also talked to the folks at Rio Bravo tonight and they are confirmed for November 11 - 13 2016. Anybody who had the chance to see the great fun we had last weekend should put this on their calendar for a great way to end the season next year.

Thanks Mike! Happy to read Rio Bravo is back for 2016.

GL Region needs to get some Michigan tracks on the schedule for PVMX/VMX. The AMA D-14 vintage series seems to be popular. Would be good to create some kind of relationship with that series if possible. Strategic promotional alliances appear to be working in other regions with AHRMA. CalVMX in the Southwest and Masters MX & ACR in the North Atlantic. It may be tough for the scorer but its nice to have more bikes on the gate!

How cool would it be to have an AHRMA Natl at Redbud?...

Too bad you're no novice. 261 would look so good on one of these.

Log Road used to run an AHRMA regional in conjuction with the Michigan Vintage Motocross series. It worked pretty well.

AHRMA National: 7/10/2016.......Field of Dreams, Millville, NJ......... (date released first)
AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days/Mid-Ohio: July 8, 9, and 10 2016 (AMA most likely has to coordinate around Mid-Ohio's summer schedule of other events.)

    Such a shame....

I emailed all of the ahrma trustees about this. We'll see if they make any changes.

Here is the email that I got back...

    Hi Tom:

Just to be clear, Vintage Motorcycle Days was scheduled *after* our NJMP event was scheduled. Each of the previous two years, VMD was rescheduled from its originally announced date and moved to the same weekend as the AHRMA Roadrace and MX National at NJMP, even though AHRMA had made a conscious decision to not schedule any National events the same weekend as VMD. At this point, however, it’s certainly not fair to our partners at NJMP to ask them to keep moving their event, and, as we’ve seen in the past, there are no guarantees that the VMD date would not be moved yet again if we were to do so.

We’d rather not put our racers in the position of having two choose between the two events, but unfortunately that is out of our control.

Thanks for the note, and thanks for your support of AHRMA!

    Mark Hatten
Chairman, American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA)

So it's sounds like they are fine if the track only gets 75 signups for vmx and pvmx?

I think Mark's response is pretty reasonable. You CAN choose to race in NJ that weekend...

Personally, I thought the AMA had good VMX/PVMX class structure when they had a series, but they gave up on it this year. If the AMA doesn't sanction and promote a real series, then I feel no obligation to support them. VMD is a good event, but it seems the AMA prioritizes predatory scheduling of the event rather than support of the VMX/PVMX community by purposely creating division. I am the first person to say AHRMA is not perfect, but it is improving and they offer something the AMA does not, a true National Series. AHRMA has scheduled 16+ national races all around the country for 2016 and has regional racing in support of the nationals.

The timing of VMD as a National Championship V/PVMX race seems all wrong to me. It could be cool as a Fall event. What if the best of all the regional series racers could go to a championship race like LL or the Minis Os for vintage at...? Qualifiers could be designated from the best vintage events of their respective regions (all the good clubs, not just AHRMA). The AMA could be inclusive and co-sanction events like Diamond Dons, Unadilla, one of the big races on the west coast, etc. Then have a one race, "vintage championship of america" later in the year that actually means something. Maybe award an MXdN team USA style jersey to the champions. Just a thought...

Jason - I like both series because they let me race but you must not know the history between the two organizations. At one time they did co-sanction and promote together, VMD being the main attraction, but it imploded for a reason that seems minor on the outside. It did however involve something that we all understand - $$$. There is a story but I am not the one to tell it-it is online if you look. Me, I like them both, I wish the AMA could keep it going beyond VMD for sure - the series for 2 years was great fun and I like what the AMA does for motorcyclists in general. What AHRMA is doing in 16 in our region is fantastic and I will support it in every way I can. Actually thinking about an actual vintage bike.....

Just not sure if there are enough of us to say "I am not going to do that because of who runs it" If I can go I will.

However, VMD is one of my favorite 3 days of every year - don't know if I will ever skip that for anything but a funeral, me or immediate family in the hospital, or the birth of a grandchild. I know my kids aren't ever getting married that weekend!

    Yup Mark Hatten

You will get all the 1962 BSA's and 1964 Cz's at NJMP, that's for sure.

The rest of us including the 1982 KAWASAKI's that YOU don't like will be at MID-OHIO having more fun than you can imagine....

Its time to figure out if you are a leader or a not.... the evidence says NOT
