So, what's the Quad Excuse THIS week?

The promoter that was posting about getting done by 5pm. My guess is that he did not prepped and keep the track in great racing shape all day long like Jason did at Malvern. I will give up a shorter day for a track in good condition for all to race on.

I don't think that 1 site lap is real good for these events, because not everyone is there for all day practice on Saturday. But controlled practice is needed. 1 practice. I saw the revolving door at Malvern. Some guys went out in 3 and 4 groups, just coming off the track riding right back onto the start straight.

WAIT.....I figured out the reason the quad turnout was low this weekend !!!! It is all over the news!!

And 'tis why you weren't there I figure. Were you at the happy games trying to make more rabbits? ;)

That was only part of the issue. Practice does need to be cut in some fashion. One site lap would have hurt me to some extent since I was not there Saturday, but that's my fault, not the tracks. The track provided an entire day to practice, but I chose not to participate...

Morning practice yesterday really didn't do a whole lot for me anyway. Not so good in the wetter conditions with more than one line to choose from. Again, not the tracks fault...

Tough subject, There is a ton of effort to put in,on super events for Quads, and they dont even show up.

If my wife cooked dinner every night and I did not show up........she would stop cooking.

How many Quad AMA or OMA members are there in Ohio vs. Bikes? (racers only) Is there just not enough?

Jeremy: I'll email you the Team186 Trac Pac tonight.

From what I've been told me about your last 2 Battle races, you guys got something very special happening at your OMA/ AMA Battle events.

Only Connie could answer that. I think to say there are not enough Quad riders is not necessarily accurate, maybe if you compartmentalize it that far. Same logic could be used to say there aren't enough girls bike riders, pw50 class racers, Vet 50+ racers. All of those classes are on the light side when you compare them to the mainstream of 450/250 bike classes.

I think to pull 100 quads (unique) is possible, lofty, but possible. Most quad guys tend to run two classes if available. This is the National trend. So 200 entries is possible. Maybe not likely, but possible in Ohio. That sounds low to you guys I know, but if you add that to a 600-700 bike turnout, and you are at 800-900 entries. Then the quads still make up 22-25% of the entries. I have never looked at the data on the family's that they bring with them. I don't think there is way to determine that info.

Regardless it would take time to build it to that number. I could see it in maybe 2-3 years if we work toward changes to entice more racers to stay in the sport and to begin racing in Ohio more.

Agreed! These are special events so plan so you can attend practice. Practice in the morning is seldom what it becomes throughout the day.

For comparison sake, I noticed on the 2014 Area 51 Can/Am flyer that they are only running 2 laps of practice for each group on Sunday morning starting at 8am and they will be racing by 9am. So they are basically saying to show up on Saturday for practice but this is a once a year event.

After reading posts till page 5, I'm glad I skipped the race and did the 'Dilla thing and did a poker run on Sunday. Couldn't make the race on Friday at 'Dilla, because of my business, hence the Poker run.

I can't see how this race is an " EVENT" when I see lots and lots of complaining. I'll do MastersMX, thank you

Lots of hi jacking of vet261 thread too. Too bad, he was asking a pertinent question, or so I thought.

If you have no practice the morning of the event, forget anyone but regulars. Same problems that PAMX and MDRA did with Saturday practice and Sunday race. Man, they learned, but too late. Racing is dead in PA . Too much money and you tie up 2 days plus prep for the week. People then just quit. 2 days, an extra $25 to $40 bucks for an extra 30 minutes of riding only last for a while then the house of cards falls

907 not sure what thread you read but I just went back through all 7 pages and what do you know, 4 posts from two people that can be considered complaining about my "event". One from a parent who feels that his child did not get their moneys worth in practice on Saturday, which I understand and from the sound of things I agree with him. The other from a guy who at the end of the night Sunday comes up to me, shakes my hand thanks me saying what a great job we did. Then low and behold first think Monday morning is on here with multiple posts bitching about my "event" and the OMA in general. So take that for what you think it's worth. It leaves me beyond confused. I do know that I don't want people like that in any aspect of my life.

So basically that aspect of your post does not hold water, but by all means enjoy your masters Mx. Your welcome

907 always confuses me? Dude, you say racing is dead in PA, then you rip on certain races in Ohio that are promoted as an "Event"... (because they are). As someone who has been in Moto, in Ohio since 1977, this is the BEST thing that has EVER happened to motocross in this state.. EVER.
The Masters thing does sound fun but I bet if you came to a battle race you would see what im talking about. Oh, and make sure you plan for 2 days. :D
