Rainy Day Thoughts From The Cliff

So I sit here thinking about my starting line once again. I'm down to two options. First, move it forward, and angle it out or away from the opposing lane after the first turn. As suggested in a previous thread. Or moving it to it's previous location by the kids track and reversing the big track. Thoughts??

I say leave the gate where it is and move the first turn more twords the center of the gate. And maybe a good railing berm around the outside of the first turn. That shifts the good gates to the middle or far right if you got the berm.

Another wacky thought I have is to move it up to the woods where my buddys park, this would basically turn it 90 from the orientation its at now. It would come into that first turn from the side, and do more of chicane back through the current gate location and tie in.

Just angle it, if you move it to the woods you create a lot of dead space. Definitely no reverse, perfect layout right now! Quite thinking and relax for a change, have one of your fancy drinks and chill!

In my opinion Red Bud has the most fair start. The slight left followed by the right gives nearly anyone a shot.

Your gonna be buzzin on the outside in the second picture with those power lines above the start gate. Clutch levers should give a nice shock as you touch them for the old dads pushing their kids bike without gloves.

Should leave a new feeling to the saying " Electric Start "

I think the start is fine the way it is now, but if you are determined to change it, my opinion is pic #2.

That still gives you the start straight, first turn, second straight, and second turn to have "accidents" and not impact the racing on the track that would be coming around after lap 1.

I think the line are high enough to avoid shock at that point, I could be wrong, I never get shocked on starts like I do riding to the house. I think it's because the lines dip more by the driveway. I will test it more before making a move

I can save you a ton of work. Option 2 (changing the angle) is the least amount of work and that work can be complete in about 35 seconds.
Assuming you have a 90 degree angle from the front of the gate to the first turn round bale. Your plan is to "angle" the gate to the first turn by 23 degrees. (Figure 1)

If you simply move the round bale to the left (as looking at the picture) you will accomplish the exact same result as moving the gate.
