If $20 is gonna hold you back from one of the best races in Ohio, at the best facility in Ohio, in the sport of motocross which is not cheap any way that you look at it, then maybe you should take up another hobby. This is not a race, THIS IS A EVENT! The CTMX crew is far superior to anyone else when it comes to drawing people to their place, constantly giving out free passes and free classes. Bringing in sponsors and drawing big crowds.

This is the one event that i think no matter what it cost people would still go just because how much stuff is going on and how its ran. I mean heck walk over to the Custom Powersports Rig and you could prolly get enough swag to make up for that $20 and like Georgie said they usually have free pizza.

Can't have the pizza or anything with wheat or gluten. No beer either.
It's meat, potatoes and tequila for me....

$20 for you.
I have 4 kids, we each race 2 classes. Now you want another $100. Where does it end.

Try entering the 5 of you into a kart race, or <insert any other motorsport here>. You will find that MX is still incredibly cheap in comparison. I think baseball is still inexpensive?

we all need Bernie to mandate free motocross for everyone. Oh wait, they burn natural resources, polite the air, and destroy the land and kill chipmunks breading grounds. Bernie might charge to $100 tax to race

I just paid $500 for U9 select SOCCER... and that did not include uniforms which was another $135. AND that is for 8 games and 1 tournament. That is almost $53 a game... for soccer. Last time I checked it take any open grass field, a can of paint for the lines, a ball and a God awful ref for me to yell at.
$200 for 5 days of princess dance camp for my 3 year old daughter. It is 2 hours a day. So someone is getting $20 an hour to play with my kid? I have to do it for free.

Motocross is the cheapest activity we do as a family.
I think after the race I will burn my transponder just so I don't get my deposit back. That way it will feel more like this great soccer deal im in.

BTW, a transponder is overkill for my son. You can get his lap times with a sun dial. But the ease of the day is well worth it.

Having 2 daughters that have done dance, competitive cheerleading, travel softball, soccer and horse shows while the son has mainly been MX, I can sympathize. Made me laugh out loud. MX events are reasonable, but the cost to get there is where it gets you. Bikes, trailers, gear, motorhome, fuel, etc. I laugh to myself when I hear some of the stick and ball parents complain about costs. Smashing my transponder with a hammer on Sunday! :D

My daughter was in Competition cheer for years. I guarantee it cost more a year than motocross. Hell I spent $400 a month for years in freaking Gym Fees!! Then uniforms, competitions, travel out of state, hotels, food.....So happy she decided to stop and just do school cheer these days.

On the transponders. Matthew and I race probably 5 or 6 at the most races a year that need transponders. I looked it up, and the cost of the transponder, the yearly activation fees to use it........I did the math and looked like it was cheaper for me to continue renting when I looked at it back before we went to Daytona. Am I looking at something wrong incorrect?? Help me out, with the AMA discount, cost of transponder and yearly subscription is what??

Looks like $111.24 for 1 year (with shipping & no ama discount code because im too lazy to look that up)

Or if you do the 5 year thing its $50/year.

Crazy money if you ask me. That subscription thing is pretty lame.

Look I'm not disputing the costs of other sports. My four daughters are UCI Road Racers their bikes are equal to 450's in cost. But why are we adding more costs for the thrill of the experience?
Why am I the only one with alligator arms?
And yes, if your wondering that's 8 total.

Convenience, accuracy, time, money, data is cool, etc. Bowling got rid of hand scoring in like 2001.

The 2 year subscription is $142.99 (without the AMA discount). (The 5 year deal is $241) If you do 6 races a year, you spent (20x6=$120) for 1 year of rentals. The savings would be in year 2. That and not having to stand in line or remember to turn the thing in when the event is over.

Not as cheap as you think! Just like MX I had to have nice/new equipment and it's always a $600 weekend after fees/hotel/gas. Hell my parents sent me to Australia for a week to play and I've been all around the nation. However I did room with last night's HOME RUN DERBY WINNER GIANCARLO STANTON when we played in the junior Olympics together. Got a silver medal! If I was only as good at MX as I was baseball.......

How does the free bike wash station work at Chillitown work? Do we bring our own pressure washer to it or are several availabe to use at the site. I Pre-registered today and also paid for 2 admissions to get thru the gate. What does the Chillitown gate guy need to see so I don't get charged again at the gate, anyone know? One last question....are the transponders an easy step or is it a lengthy process to get one.....(rental for the day)

I print out my receipt. They have pressure washers set up. Pay to camp and you get water at your pit. So water is there
