Time for Supercross East Coast

I don't think they have to race a full season. I believe they have to qualify for three main events, so that would take someone like AC 2 weekends. I am pretty sure the arenacross season starts before supercross so he will have no troubles being on the gate for A1.

I think if the rider is good enough, he shouldnt have to ride AX first. There is always a chance of a major injury for an up and coming superstar since they are riding with riders well below their own ability.

They should let the people pay their entry fee and see if they can turn a fast lap time to qualify for the heat races. At worst case scenario, they are spending alot of money to run a couple practice and qualifying laps.

I think the "Road to Supercross" is just something RC has done to attach his name to something. A chance for him to be a mentor. I like RC, but AX should be for the riders that are not good enough for supercross, not someone who can go to SX right now and make the main.

Very good points! I was thinking the same thing about injury -- this whole process will last until a "superstar" up and comer gets hurt in the AX. Then it will all change.

Anybody heard anything on Darren Durham. I have seen some things that leads me to believe he won't be racing, however I hope he is. On transworld pics on kickstart monday from last weekend they had pics of the east coast pro circuit bikes and there was only Hill and Wilson. I have also seen tweets from dean wilson about his teammate him and Hill. He use to have stuff with DD but that has stopped. The last thing lead me to beleiving this is I just made my picks for motocross fantasy and Darren name was not on the list. ??? What gives?? anyone have some scoop???

From the RacerX update I posted:

"Darryn Durham is still out while recovering from a severed Achilles."

im surprised no one has said more about bell and hill, im pulling for those guys they are my sleeper picks. as far as getting ur liscense for supercross, u really think they'll make someone like AC or jordan smith or plessinger(kids hauling) or even in the future austin forkner ride arenacross to get there liscense. the ama is a joke, its all on who u are or who u know, if your a knowbody then yes u have to race arenacross, if your on a national team in the amatuer ranks, like these kids, then no u dont need to ride arenacross, dont care what they say.

Just think of arenacross as the minor league. No big deal for a "rookie" to run a few rounds and then get his calling to the big show. Heck if teams were bigger and more money I don't think it would be out of the question to send a rider back down when coming back from a injury and or sub par results.
I have said it for years that the schools need to start mx team and compete against all other schools on Saturday nights. This sport would grow and more people would be exposed to the sport. Could go all the way to states and etc... just like every other school sport. Then again all the fast guys these days are home schooled and or don't attend school.
Just think the local football field could be used for moto team in spring and summer. Plus the teams need to get there riders on the radio and tv for interviews and media bs. Heck I listen to baseball, football and hockey talk all day on the radio would be nice to hear some time to moto but the sport is not big enough and will never be big enough the current way it's heading. Could be but people are to up tight to be open to new ideas etc... but I see nothing wrong with having to hit a few arenacross events as I have seen years ago some trying to qualify for a national that had no place being on the track with anyone considered being a "pro".

In theory it is a great idea. In reality, the sport is way too expensive for schools to fund and I know that most high schools will not let anything happen on the football fields during the offseason. Most are now turf, but some are still natural grass.

Heck there are many schools (public) who have now went to a "pay to play" requirement even in high school because revenue and budgeting dont bring in enough money to cover less profiting sports like baseball, golf, etc.

I believe the average cost of one student to play high school football is at $1000. Imagine what the cost would be for motocross.

I'm pretty sure the "Road to supercross" is just like getting your outdoors license. If a team signs you, you won't need to get your Pro-am points or in this case your AX points. So none of the up and coming riders will need to go through it. They're just trying to eliminate some of the people that don't have enough practice on a SX track yet, or the speed.

As for Austin, He has his SX license from the past 2 years. If you got 75 points in AX lites or 35 in Ax class, you qualified for your licenses(indoor and outdoor). I could get my SX licenses right now without having to do the "Road to supercross" because I got enough points. Once you get a Licenses, indoors or outdoors, you don't need to keep doing the Pro-Ams or AX series each year unless you fail to Renew it 2 years in a row.

tried that in 03. Nobody would give me the time of day. And my superintendent loved mx. Couldn't justify a budget for it. Even had a bunch of other schools lined up. Was planning on running a hs race at oir that year. Shut it down. But really I think people wouldn't pack the stands to watch a hs race. After all the bike does all the work and it isn't physical like football.

I was hoping Bowers would do SX too but didn't he just sign a 2 year extension of his AX deal ? He and Gibson both ran some SX last year and had some promising showings on bikes certainly not equal to many of those they were racing against . Thought somebody might offer Bowers a SX ride . Maybe the money is " easier " for him in AX since he dominates it .

I figure this can just be the Dallas thread, no? Had an online exam to finish up this morning. My eyes are about to burn out. But here it goes.

Rookie Debut
Three exciting new rookies will make their supercross debuts this weekend in Dallas - Jeremy Martin (brother of Alex), Zach Bell and Justin Hill (brother of Josh). All three have shown big potential in the amateur ranks, and in the limited time Bell put in at the Nationals last year, he showed that he’s got plenty of raw speed on tap at the pro level as well. How will these rookies fair on their big night in Dallas? – <i>Aaron Hansel

Josh Hill
An eighteenth place finish would’ve been considered a terrible result for Josh Hill a few years ago, but after several injury-plagued years (and not racing a single supercross main event since 2010), just putting the Dodge/Sycuan Suzuki in the show has got to make Hill happy. Now that he’s got that first race out of the way and knows the pace, how will this past supercross race winner do this Saturday night? – Aaron Hansel

Second Time Around
Marvin Musquin did very well in his first attempt at Monster Energy Supercross last year. He took four podiums, three of which were second places, and finished third overall in the points. Now that he’s got some experience under his belt, Musquin is expected to be a title contender in the Eastern Regional 250SX series. Will he live up to these expectations when the gate drops in Dallas? – Aaron Hansel

LaMayn Event
Rock River Racing’s Ben LaMay broke through in San Diego to make his first supercross main event of the year. LaMay probably would have liked to place a little higher than nineteenth, but it’s better than the mechanical DNF he suffered in the last main event (Oakland 2012) he made. With the series now heading to Texas, LaMay’s current state of residence, will he make his second consecutive main event of 2013? – Aaron Hansel

East Coast SX was kindof boring, no? From the looks of it I think Wilson might just run away with the title.

Yea, that 1st heat race had me fooled. Its Deanos championship to lose IMO. Marvin the martian did ride back pretty well for being down in the 1st turn though.

Um not sure that theres any reason to post a new topic. Everyone is either at summit or down south riding it seems like. Theres never really anything new to post anyways. Maybe a new one for daytona. That might get hyped up some more. So until then I will just continue to post stuff that I come across randomly in here.

No, everyone's not doing either one of those two, most of the real world is still here. Those gone are just the loud mouths and obnoxious ones. Thank you, your welcome!
