What model was this thing? Post a picture of it.
Worse case scenario it waps a rider in the head, whose wearing a helmet?

Helicopters fly over pro nationals, and over Chilitown last year. Nobody complained about that if he lost oil pressure, or hydraulic fluid started leaking casuing that bohemeth to come down in a burning blaze and leave a crater in the ground.
The small RC helicopters aren't that dangerous. Unless they're trying to fly a figure eight course using bystanders heads....

pretty cool first race there by this new group behind it. More promotion for this one race than anything I have seen from their counterparts in the region, good job Tommy B and crew!

The drones are a touchy subject here in America lately with privacy and airspace issues. As technology advances this is going to hit the fan. You can hover one of those things right on over to your neighbors backyard where their daughter is bathing in the sun. Hover one in my backyard and it'll get shot down. At a race I think wow they make some good MX footage. Much like those NFL cameras on the wires. The pits would have to be off limits though.

Chillitown does......just sayin.
Why give them the opening to do that? Seems real simple. If they want to fly their
drone, do it when there aren't people around. Sort of like not racing in the pits.

he wasn't just flying for fun. he was making a video. and it isn't a drone its a heli with a gopro on it

The gopro makes for a better target. If you have the right to fly it over my head without my consent, I have the right to shot it out of the sky without your consent. I have control of my firearm. I have years of experience... right?
Im not a gun guy, but see my point?
The best example I can think of is the NFL. They use a camera mounted on wires over the field and not a heli or drone. WHY? because of the safety of the spectators and players.
Now if they can keep the players from beating their children and wives...

So by that logic you can shoot down any old airplane and/or helicopter because they don't have your consent to fly above you? Also I'm sure you forgot but discharging a firearm because you're angry at a toy will most likely land you in jail. Your "point" isn't a point at all.
And I'm guessing the NFL's decision had more to do with money than safety of spectators and players. Also the quality, response time, reliability, etc with a wired camera vs wireless is still a big factor.

don't get me wrong I understand your concern but you maybe overreacting just a bit. honestly the NFL uses wires cause they are going up and down the same field. he was 100 or so feet off the ground.
Was somebody paying him to make a video? Or was he hoping to make a profit from it?
Sounds like liability squared if something goes wrong.

Do you Owen the place? OK so he has permission form the owner and he is helping promote the track. He didn't hurt anyone or even come close. You need to worry about the drive home more so than this. The profit is to benefit the track. And he was volunteering.
The guy riding the 85 thru the pits banging gears past the golf carts with 8 kids goofing off and not looking where they are going is more of a danger than the heli flying over the track for about 15 min and over the pits for a whopping 2 mins
