OMA 2016 News and Updates!!!

I'm pleased to announce the first major change to the OMA for 2016. We will be adding a "D" designation class for beginning racers, there will be no year end points for this class, and we reserve the right to bump any rider out of the class if we feel they above this level or if they should be at a higher level. We will also be adding a 125cc 2 stroke class. This is the name of it, we will determine the CC limits prior to the first indoor event at Summit.

Additionally, KTM is back onboard for the Battle for Ohio Series, and they are putting together a year end contingency package for the Overall OMA Series!

Innovation, trying something different ! I love it! I know a rider that will try out racing in the D class for sure now, he was at the Malvern battle round and watched the C class, he was a little demoralized.

Knox in 3......2........1

And when are you going to let the real cats out of the bag???

Girls Bike and 30+A will not be offered in 2016.
Oh crap............you just ticked off some 30+ guys that were complaining about racing the A riders two years ago now. I could care less, but there will be guys mad about this one.

The D class idea is starting to grow on me, but I do see where some things need to be defined. Can a "D" rider ride the "C" class also? Or does volunteering to ride the C class auto advance you? How about an age group class, Can you ride D and 25+ and if so, Why? Is it one class for all size bikes or one for 50's one for 65's one for 85's one for 125's one for 250's and one for 450's? How about a vet D class? Will a master list of riders be maintained for all promoters / tracks to use? If a promoter can advance someone when they see fit, how will the other tracks know? What is the level you have to reach before you are advanced? If you have raced before, do you qualify as D now? If you go out and wax everyone in moto 1, can you be advanced before moto 2? If a promoter is your buddy will you ever get advanced?
If a promoter can advance a D rider, then why not a C or B rider?
I think those are valid questions and Im sure most if not all and more will be asked in 2016 by someone other then myself.

I usually see each class that uses the A,B,C classifications using D as well. The OMA points system keeps track of each rider and what class they are in so why would it be any different for D class?

Well on the 30+, we had guys who had to run it for battle, because they were A, but they wanted to earn year end points in regular 30+, the points were different due to class size differences, in the end it was a headache, so for the crybabies that can't race regular 30 against fast dudes.....start working out now.

Good questions that need asked, and I'm sure they considered this and have bugs that need worked out yet.

There is no reason this can't be taken care of amongst ourselves before it goes to track officials. If you are in the D class lined up next to a guy that got 2nd or 3rd last weekend in C class or has been racing for 3 years, you could say "dude, have a little respect for us who are actually just beginning." If he blows you off or is a habitual offender, then perhaps take it to officials.

From C class to D class is a DQ, make no mistake about it, they're different riding levels, they don't interchange, there is no float between the two. Once you move up to C, you are there. Unless it's a grosse oversight by the rider, or they didn't know about D, then we could look at a petition.
