Stewart arrested for impersonating a police officer.

AMA needs to set an example of JS. Lots of little kids look up to JS and if they see him get off without punishment then they will think it is ok to break the law.

He isn't getting off without punishment....he was arrested. Let the law do its thing and let the AMA stick to land issues, traffic laws, etc. Kids will see him being arrested. What more do they need to see?

I love this piccture!!

That is awesome!

Haha...no i am not immature, i am not a child, i have paid my dues, and i am not a Stewart fan. I would say i have many friends and relatives who are cops, which gives me an inside perspective, i am observant of NEWS and aware of my SURROUNDINGS, and have seen many examples and heard many stories, including stories of what cops did and got away with in the old days. I am not saying that the cops in this instance did anything wrong, they did exactly what they should have, maybe i misrepresented myself in my previous reply, and I am not saying that all cops are BAD.

However, i am saying that if anyone thinks ALL cops play by the rules, you are obviously not AWARE of what really goes on, nor the persona many take on. I have probably been pulled over more than most, and let off many of times, and for that i am grateful. Which leads me to the fact that COPS HAVE THE CHOICE of righting you a ticket or not. For the times i was not let off, there is no one to blame except for myself. I like to drive fast, what can i say.

However, i live in a relatively save city, probably due to the numerous cops (5+) that patrol the small area like hawks on any given night, and in-part, to the upstanding citizens that obied by the rules. And while the cops in the nicer areas have untouchable egos from pulling over soccer moms and teenagers, i know some cops who patrol some of the meaner streets in Cleveland alone at night, who are very humble. Talk to people who travel a lot, they will tell you they see more cops in OHIO than anywhere else.

There are always going to be apposing views with any circumstance. As much as i don't like many cops, there are some that i like, and most, whether cool or pricks, perform a great service that society needs, contradicting as it may be. And the whole quota myth is just that, it does not exist.

More than likely Stewart will finish the season out, and possibly be outdoors. The real story is the crybaby cops. I know they perform a good task and all, however, most of the cops are worse than the criminals they arrest. These cops now days are drunks who drive every night, do drugs, kidnap, extort, and the list goes on. And when they get caught, most of them just lose there jobs. 90% of them walk around everyday with egos that would trump the largest of the largest. The ones that let you go are cool, the rest are fat pricks.

"Most of the cops are worse than the criminals"??? Hmmmm.... Lets see, I have never driven drunk in my life, never illegally done drugs of any kind, never kidnapped or extorted. I have let go alot more than I have arrested and never arrested anyone falsely. And you know what, I have been a cop in Alaska, Hawaii and a dispatcher in Ohio and I have not ran into any of these "most cops" you are talking about. But if I ever run into you while I am on duty maybe I will make an exception to my respectfulness, ethical treatment and forgiving nature. Next time you sleep comfortably in your safe city maybe you should thank one of the "most cops who are worse than criminals".

On second thought I will treat you with the respect and dignity you probably don't deserve.

oh boy this could turn into a huge cop debate lol.

im friends with several cops. i dont hate cops one bit, but i have seen several cases of them just apparently having nothing better to do than to give you a hard time. although totally unrelated to stewarts situation, i have been pulled over, followed, questioned, etc all for nothing before. Mentor is one city that REALLY REALLY REALLY hates motorcycles. Now most of you know that i've done a fair share of things on motorcycles that most cops would be really mad about.. however, there have been plenty of times where i was not doing anything wrong at all, for example just riding down the road with a girl on the back, with another rider next to me also with a girl, both everyone wearing helmets and jackets and stuff... and a cop makes a u turn.. follows us for a good half mile, sees another bike and makes another u turn to go follow him.

i think stuff like that makes a lot of people hate on cops. where i live now, a good few miles down the road theres probably a lot of drug deals going on and all kinds of bad stuff.. and i have had 0 problems with cops. when i was in mentor, a nice area, i seriously seemed to talk to a cop every few weeks for one reason or another.. probably because they had nothing else better to do than to harass people.

ive had cops make false claims before, saying that they saw me do something (when i 100% did not). I've had cops literally say "im going to write you a ticket, just because i can", I had one cop want to tow my bike before when i had my temp motorcycle license, because he didnt know that your temps did not show on your license, he was 100% convinced I was lieing and did not have my temps, even though i had a paper in my hand proving that i did. once again, did nothing wrong for that situation to even occur. so IMO there are plenty of jerk cops out there, but for every jerk ive came across ive also met some very cool ones.

Well worded. I used to follow bikes all the time, I would follow them and get there plate info and run it, I would do this to every bike I saw. I hate few criminals worse than those who steal bikes. But I am probably an exception on this one and I doubt Mentor has the same mentality I do.

Some of these cop stories seem exaggerated. I can't picture a cop saying I'm giving you a ticket because I can.. unless you take it out of context and you said something dumb or smart to him.

"Hello sir, just want to let you know I'm currently writing you a ticket because I can, not because you were breaking the law or it's my job, just because I can."

Yep, that totally happens all the time I bet.

and one more time for the james stewart incident: AWWWW HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

glad i didnt offend you lol..

i could see if maybe it happened once or twice, as if they were looking for someone in specific or a certain bike or something, but the 1 time in specific that it happend they followed me and my buddy both on crotch rockets, and then turned around to follow a guy on a harley.

we had a few spots that we had permission from the owners of the property to practice in their parking lots. we would sometimes have cops come check it out, hang out for a while, watch, talk to us say have fun , etc and leave. we would then have the guys come that say our waivers with permission mean nothing, that they can and should write us all wreckless ops, and made us leave and were total jerks about it. maybe they do mean nothing, but nobody in the world except that 1 guy that just so happen to drive by cared... its like what the heck.. give us a break.

wish i was making it up. ive had them say that they can write me a wreckless op based on the phone call that they got saying i was doing something.. when i 100% knew i was doing nothing wrong.

i got a lot of friends with bikes still, invovled in the 'stunt' scene. a lot of guys run from the cops anymore even when they DIDNT do anything wrong, just because they are worried that they are going to find a reason to give them a ticket.

luckily the worst ticket ive ever got was a cop pulled me over, again just bored i think, and wrote me one for my plate. i took a pic of it, went to court and said i thought it was bogus they looked at the pic and dropped it. waste of my time.thank u....

every other time ive managed to get off. there has really only been 1 time i got pulled over that i should have got a ticket, and he was a nice guy and gave me a ltitle speach and told me to be on my way.

Don't let one rotten apple spoil the bunch.

My dad was chasing this guy on a quad, yeah someone tried to out run a cop on the road on a quad. My dad caught the guy when he over heated the engine. Long story short my dad let him go because the dude didn't even have a single speeding ticket in his history.

I wonder if he ever says COPS ARE AWESOME!!

Prolly not, people only talk about the bad things cops do, not the good.

Trooper said in the video it is a Felony to impersonate a police officer........The courts usually do not take too kindly to people impersonating a police officer. And my guess is, the judge is not a Supercross fan, and could care less. Once again, a 25 year old athlete that has NEVER lived in the real world does something not even thinking about what might happen. Bubba lives in "Bubbas World" ........ and guess what? There is a real world where there are laws.......

AMA should suspend him just like JLaw. It is a priveledge to be able to play or participate in ANY professional sport.....NOT a right.

What an idiot.

Well worded! I probably could have worded my statement better... All i was trying to say is that i "dislike," if "HATE" is to strong of a word, COPS, because "MOST OF" or "SOME" for technicality issues, don't practice what they preach. Officers, Politicians, Doctors, CEO's, Teachers, etc... are supposed to be model citizens of the United States. And with age, an ever changing society and growing population, when you see growing instances of these types of individuals behaving in a manner you would not expect, it becomes quite disheartening.

Not everyone of them acts this way, i don't dislike them ALL, but stereotypes just don't appear out of nowhere either. Not all dogs are mean, but when you are bit by one, your perspective might change a little. I am not saying i am perfect, just aware that it happens everyday.

Here is a little article, I am not the only one who notices this:

HAHAHAHA!

That link only proves that some HUMANS slip thur the cracks and not all cops are perfect.

****ing idiot!

HAHAHAHA!!

KTM,

Haha...to bad YOU did not SLIP through the CRACK!!! Nevertheless, that was my point exactly! There is an increasing number of incidences where you are finding corrupt higher officials, of all sorts.

And from what you wrote i would have expected, in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JnCc6CzZf4&feature=related the cop should have helped stab and rob the victim... its what i was expecting but it turned out the cop wasnt on the bad guys side...

But hey.. GO STEWART!!!! 2011 SX CHAMP!!

(to bad i didnt slip thur the cracks? what..?... good one bro you fking got me good..?)

I arrested the only cop I ever saw break the law, he was driving drunk, very few officers gave me guff over it. I was once investigated over some accusations, we police our own too. No one is perfect, cops do crime to, but not many of them. If you are so bitter because someone was a dick to you, I ask you to consider two things, both are ways cops end up being dicks: 1 youngsters will be youngsters and young police officers early on can and somewhat often let their new found authority go to their heads. But they calm down after they get put in their place enough by Joe Citizen when then try to do things they can't actually back up. It happens, they learn, they grow and end up being fair guys who see a larger picture than traffic tickets. 2 Take a officer who is genuine, does not get an inflated ego and really want to protect people and not harass them. These guys end up getting burned over and over again by the trash they deal with. Then they decide they are sick and tired of it and they become bitter and treat everyone the same (usually not good) It takes a long time to learn to treat everyone and I mean everyone with respect. But alot of us have learned to keep your assumptions inside, ask questions, always give respect, and establish probable cause. This by the way is hard because not everyone is just speeding or committing traffic offenses, sometimes these are the tip of the ice berg and what is really going on is much more devious and dangerous for us. But I promise you "most" cops are not into kid napping, extortion or child pornography. Hate me if you feel the need to, but if you are ever in my jurisdiction and need help I will come running.
