PR: 2012 VMD Online Entry Open

Thanks for the reminder as it is always good to save a few bucks.

No racing for me but plan to hit the swap meet & see all the is to see!

ooooops!
Sorry if I misled anybody. Maybe it is one of those deals where it depends on who talked to you and they have diferent info. The gal admitted to me that they didn't think it out well enough when originally posted dates. I got right off the phone and called the boy and told him to call in and get it done.
I bet he missed it too.

Nothing like waiting to the last minute, huh guys :(

We never had to worry about it before....always came with our entry. I think it's BS on both AMA and Mid-Ohio's part...going down that AHRMA path in my book.

BS.....maybe.....but I think another way to look at it was that we had it way too good for a while there. Getting two free weekend passes with one race class entry was a super deal.

So i'm on the fence about trying it out. My 85 CR 250 would just qualify for Non-current right? I cant see myself spending all this money for AMA membership and race fee's just to race flat mx track. Or am I overseeing the fun that it is?

Yea your 85-CR would be non-current class.
Last years track wasn't too bad. It had a few jumps and was very well prepped. And they ran the races well.

And if memory serves me the Non-current race last year got some pretty good action with a couple of go-fasters from up in your area.
I'm working hard to get our 84 CR250 ready so that my son can race it as well in non-current.

Vintage Days is a good opportunity to put your bike to work doing what it was designed for, against other riders on similar machines. You could also run your bike in Fridays Cross Country race if you felt so inclined.

Have you been to Vintage Days before?

I'm Registered:
Friday......... Post Vintage Hare scramble..........Senior 40+ open
Sunday........Evolution 1,2,3...vet 30+ open and 40+ open.

I got to thinking after I replied on this thread, I guess I am or was assuming that AMA is following last years efforts on the track work for motocross. Are they gonna use the Log Road crew again? We haven't heard anything or been given updates?

I'm on my lunch so I have little time to dig back for who posted in from AMA last year on this. Do any of you guys remember?

Here is thread post from last year, from page 5:

PR: AMA VMD Mid Ohio Enhancing MX Track
(I know this was posted already in another thread, I just wanted to highlight for those that may not have seen it)

AMA Racing adds classes, enhances motocross track for AMA Racing Vintage Grand Championships

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- AMA Racing, the amateur racing department of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), is bringing a number of enhancements to the motocross track for the AMA Racing Vintage Grand Championships during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days featuring Kawasaki, Marque of the Year, this July 22-24 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

"The AMA Racing Vintage Grand Championships attracts bikes from the 1950s to the beginning of the modern era, and everything in between," said AMA Director of Racing Joe Bromley. "Our track needs to challenge the new bikes while staying historically authentic. Improvements planned for 2011 will strike the right balance so that everyone will have a demanding track to race on."

Bromley added that one factor driving the changes to the motocross track is the addition of non-current classes to the program. The 122cc-Open class will allow bikes sold as pre-1997 models. It will have A and B/C divisions.

"Time marches on, and the non-current classes are our way of opening the doors of the AMA Vintage Grand Championships to bikes that may not be competitive with current technology but are advanced beyond the traditional vintage category," Bromley said. "We don't want any bike left sitting in a garage or shed unused somewhere just because there's nowhere to race it. We encourage riders to come out and support these non-current classes and battle for the podium."

AMA Racing is working with Bart Newman and Jeff Beerbower, the owners of Log Road MX Park in Coldwater, Mich., to design, build and maintain the track during the event. Bromley said that Newman and Beerbower are experienced track builders and understand both the science and art of creating a thrilling motocross course for bikes of all eras.

"Although the design isn't finalized, man-made obstacles will include off-cambers, berms, jumps, rollers and other enhancements that will leverage the natural terrain of the motocross area at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course," Bromley said. "We'll also have a modified starting procedure that will keep things fair while still allowing for a quickly moving program for multiple class starts."

In addition to Saturday's vintage motocross program, riders in Friday's hare scrambles race will also compete on the new track as part of their off-road loop through the woods course. For Sunday's post-vintage and non-current classes, the obstacles will be made even more challenging for the newer bikes.

All entry proceeds from the AMA Racing Vintage Grand Championships are donated to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame, which is dedicated to promoting and preserving the heritage of motorcycle competition and the motorcycling lifestyle. The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum is located on the AMA campus in Pickerington, Ohio.

Both online entry and downloadable PDF entry forms, along with complete rules and classes, are available at AMAVintageMotorcycleDays.com > Race Your Vintage Bike. The direct link is http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/events/AMAVintageMotorcycleDays/VintageRacing.aspx.

In addition to class entry, competitors must also purchase a ticket to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days for access to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course facility. Tickets to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days can be purchased online at MidOhio.com.

Double check your entry confirmation info!

Last two years AMA goofed on my entry info.
This year I decided to mail the forms in with checks attached. Shot it out in the mail Monday. I got my entry confirmation email from XTRMUSA. Somebody goofed again on the info entered.

I had to respond email back, hopefully they'll get it all squared away correct.

I'm hearing Mid Ohio will have a starting gate this year!

I talked to Kip at MC Regional and he confirmed that the goal is to have a real starting gate this year. He said nothing is set in stone but he's trying to work it out.

Looks like $55 for weekend entry plus $70 for camping = $125 bucks.....hope to spectate & bench race as it has been years since I have even been to a Vintage race.

Maico Mark "Break-O is the rider" as the bike was a rock!

Yep, talked to the fine folks this past weekend who are bringing the gate and setting it up....no road blocks at this point.
