AHRMA Regional 2016 Schedule

Any chance of dropping the A,B,C... sorry, expert, intermediate, beginner and just going with bike age / size? 40 guys don't need 35 different classes.
Works for me,us old guys love full gates! Not like those kitty kats JO says want their own gate at his races!

I recently had seriously considered dropping my AHRMA membership for 2016.
May have to rethink that now.

Mike is right on this.
When Drew/Action Sports held his last regular AHRMA race, the turnout wasn't good at all.
We had mixed class's, and still didn't have more than 7 to 10 on a gate. I recall only having 3 to 5 in my class's. That race track gets awful big and lonely without someone to chase, or challenge you.

I'm thinking several class's had 1 or 2 racers. It was discouraging.
You need to renew license,we got races in our backyard! This is where we all need to get all of our bikes ready and find people to ride them, maybe we can get a few guys hooked!! My goal is to loan out 6 bikes to guys that havnt rode pv! Knox would u like to ride a maico?

With these races being so local, I'm definitely getting an AHRMA card this year! I've ALWAYS dreamed of having a Maico ...can I still ride one of yours even though I'm already riding an 84 RM250? :)

Prob could work something out for one of these races! 250 or 490?

My yellow 125 next to Larry's white 500, leaving a full gate at Mid Ohio. That was fun. But of unfortunately we were also 2 of the 3 in our class at a local regional.

"Larry Brill" and Husky 500, correct?
He's been out of the scene for awhile.

All this talk got me thinking that at each race, they should stage 1 race that is fully "Open-Class- Open Age" . (3-moto's, 6 laps of course :D).
Would particularly make it memorable if the promotor/track owner offered this as a "FREEBEE", to encourage participation.

Just to have one race that completely fills the gate...... FOR FUN! ..... No awards, so pressures or anxieties, just fun!

Haha...I really didn't expect that to be your reply!

Really though, when I say I've dreamed of riding a Maico...I mean that...back in the day when I was still riding my 1973 Hodaka Wombat I actually had a very memorable dream where I was riding a Maico. Truly a bike porn dream :)

Not sure I'd want to risk banging up one of your bikes at an event but with you living in Newark, possibly we can meet up at rt 62 if they have any more ride days this year. Weather might be iffy, but another possibility would be to come over to my place in Sunbury to ride on my track which can be PV friendly if a jump or two are excluded. With the wind drying things out, I'm thinking I may be able to ride at my place on Sunday if anyone might be interested.

Open outdoors this Sunday! 11:00-5:00.

Oh hell yeah

I'll re-up membership for another year.
2016 is going to be another busy year for the wife and I, but we'll work in as much as we can.

Hopefully these Regional races have support classes. I'm more interested in racing the "Non-Current" model bikes now, which AHRMA does not have classes for. I only really enjoy bringing out the drum-brakers for a race here and there anymore....[/QUOTE

I'd make the classes simple something like . . . .
1974-older (vintage)
1975-1979 EVO1
1980-1984 EVO2
1985-1989 EVO3
Non-current up to 1997 (keep the YZF400's out) hate 4 strokes (and yes I own one)

I'd like to see GL region get some Michigan and Indiana tracks on the schedule for PVMX/VMX. The AMA D-14 vintage series in MI seems to be popular with 14 races in 2015. Would be good to create some kind of relationship with that series if possible. Strategic promotional alliances appear to be working in other regions with AHRMA. CalVMX in the Southwest and Masters MX & ACR in the North Atlantic/North East. It may be tough for the scorer, but its nice to have more bikes on the gate! They run together and get scored separately (the AHRMA NA race at Budds Creek worked that way this year) The experience on the track is close racing even if the guy your are dicing with is not in your class or series.

You guys crack me up reading about classes and tracks and who should do what but all Ahrma wants to do is have fun and when the grandpa's can get out of the wheelchairs and get to the line no one will care how many classes or people is there your just glad you are there having fun stretching the legs on the old beasts and maybe taking home $20 of wood to hang on the man cave wall.
