Federal Spending Cuts-Sequestration.

Around here the Sequestration cuts are getting huge press because of WPAFB. Employees getting furloughs. working 4 days a week. I have one quesiton. If we can function with all these employees working 4 days a week, would that not mean we have too many federal employees? I have always been in the private sector, and always run lean and mean. State and Federal government need to try this.

Being on City Council, I see and hear all the time, we need more people for this or that. But here in Xenia, we truely do run pretty lean and mean, because we MUST balance a budget each year, and funds are limited. This is a totally lost concept at the federal level. I am just estimating, but I am sure the federal government could function with 3/4 of the employees they have.

People working in Federal jobs really have no concept of the true realities in most workplaces.

I guess I'm still a little hot that Rittman passed a retroactive tax hike on citizens who pay taxes to other localities because they were broke, and then used the money to give city employees pay hikes. No one is saying they don't deserve a pay increase, but I resent that it was deemed that I deserved a city imposed pay cut in order to give it to them.

So what's the next catatrophe that congress will be voting on? I'm sure the media will start spatting out something here in a few weeks with some fancy flashy name.

Not sure if the walmart facts are true or not, just food for thought.

WAL-MART VS. THE MORONS (NOT A JOKE)

I know lots of folks don't like Wal-Mart, but this is fascinating.

This is spot-on.

PLEASE, READ THIS TO THE END. IT IS VERY INTERESTING!!!

Wal-Mart vs. The Morons

1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart Every hour of every day.

2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!

3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March
17th) than Target sells all year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target +Sears + Costco

K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people, is the world's largest private
employer, and most speak English.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world.

7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and
keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years.

8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought
bankruptcy.

9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are
Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.

11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur
at Wal-Mart stores. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 Billion.)

12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.
You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the ground
work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Wal-Mart
to fix the economy.

This should be read and understood by all Americans… Democrats,
Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature,
it is now official that the majority of you are corrupt morons:

a. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have had 234
years to get it right and it is broke.

b. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to
get it right and it is broke.

c. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get
it right and it is broke.

d. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it
right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to
"the poor" and they only want more.

e. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44
years to get it right and they are broke.

f. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get
it right and it is broke.

g. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our
dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of
$24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get
it right and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our
throats while overspending our tax dollars.

AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED
WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM??

Folks, keep this circulating. It is very well stated. Maybe it will end
up in the e-mails of some of our "duly elected' (they never read anything)
and their staff will clue them in on how Americans feel.

AND

I know what's wrong. We have lost our minds to "Political Correctness"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone please tell me what is wrong with all the people that
run this country!!!!!!

We're "broke" and can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless
etc. and the last months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey and now
Pakistan ( the previous home of bin Laden). literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid nor do
they get any breaks.

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children
going to bed hungry, elderly going without needed medicines, and mentally ill
without treatment, etc.

Imagine if the GOVERNMENT gave U. S. the same support they give to
other countries. Sad isn't it?

*99% of the people receiving this message won't have the guts to forward this.

*I'm one of the 1% -- I Just Did
BEING UNITED SAVES AMERICA!

I know for a fact that these are not even close to being true. Walmart is an American company, and while they are big in the US, they have very limited presence worldwide. Aside from my wife, I know several other Walmart employees, and they are a decent company to work for, and provide an awful of of Americans with jobs. They are almost exclusively non-union because their employees don't want one. While we often think of the low paying retail jobs, they also employ many highly skilled positions behind the scenes. I know Wadsworth Walmart employs over 800 people.

I don't bash Walmart. They do well because the market place has determined they are far more desired than hated. As for selling Chinese products, have you shopped at a Dollar general, Family Dollar, Autozone, Adavance auto Parts, Sears, K-Mart, Target, or any other retail store lately?

An article I found about the top 100 retailers.

Quote:

"Amazon is empire-building online in much the same way Walmart established itself as the world’s largest physical retailer. Walmart grew through logistics expertise and an everyday low-price (EDLP) policy."

It appears they are the worlds largest! Wow

Yep and they sell things so cheap, because they don't keep enough people in the store to run the place! Ever try to find a clerk to see if they have something to restock a shelf? Kroger always has day people stocking and keeping things on sale, or something that was in the sunday paper with a coupon stocked on the shelf. Kroger also has EVERY lane open from like 4pm to 7pm when people are coming in from work.

Wal Mart, has 30 lanes and on Saturday night has THREE open, and 30 people in each lane.........I said something to the manager at our Wal Mart about it one night, used my line "I should not have to wait in a huge line to give YOU my money", he could have cared less. So I shop Kroger. Not worth the hassle. I will pop in there for automotive cleaning items once and a while when I know they are not busy, and I can go through the self check out.......other wise I refuse to shop at Wal Mart.

So you are saying walmart is just like any government office when it comes to help but unlike the gov walmart is making HUGE profits and growing while selling things cheaper than most other places?

I think the author is correct in saying the gov should take walmarts example.

On the news last night they were discussing the major corporations spending billions (with a "B") lobbying congress, now and over the last few years, on immigration reform. Wal-Mart (China-Mart I call them) was mentioned as one of the worst about this.

They are doing everything in their power to drive down wages and benefits.

Capitalism.......if wages and benefits are too low, then people DONT have to apply for a job there. Their choice.

No offense NQ but do the unions not do the exact opposite to the extreme? If it werent for one or the other we would be totally out of balance! John is correct! This country was built on capitalism, work for what you want, there is no such thing as entitlement in capitalism!

Fear not, we are going to become a socialist society soon enough! No need to work hard to make a better life for yourself, the government will make sure you are taken care of!

Im not a smart ass at all!

that type of position is exactly why we have all the bottom feeders getting government support in food stamps. Why work when you can get it for free

No offense taken and it's probably best we not turn this into another Union/non-union thread so they won't close the thread, but you are correct about balance.

I'm a firm supporter and believer in capitalism and free enterprise, but in the real world not everybody is going to be business owners and entrepreneurs. We will always need employees and folks that simply want an occupation and career, and many are very happy and content with that and there's no shame in that.

And a good strong healthy middle class should afford them a decent living. Especially if they are willing to work, pay the price like every other hard working American. Is this not part of what built this country?

It's our Government, Wall Street, the Banking system and Corporate America that often push's it out of balance, usually way out!

Aren't you even a little bit worried and suspicious about what dirty tricks they may be up to with your pension, 401K's, IRA's and other retirement funds you've been building? Make no mistake them "F*****RS" want to get their filthy greedy little hands on it! They don't want you to ever be able to retire. They simply want you to work, until you die off.

Many people were up in arms this week with Obama's overdue budget proposal he puked out, and how he wants to chisel away at your Social Security.

Soc Sec has no business being in his budget plans.

You are correct John.
But people will do whatever they have to do to feed their families in these uncertain times. You never quite know what circumstances one has had in their life to lead them to have to rely on Wal-Mart for their employment.

I understand what your saying. But usually people with degrees, are not applying to stock groceries at Wal Mart either. I work with MANY employers and see what their employees make all the time. There are many people with college degrees making $14 to $20 an hour. So do you think that a guy stocking groceries or working the drive thru at McDonalds should be making $14 an hour as some are out there pushing right now? If that happens, then these places paying $20 an hour, will have to go to $25 an hour.

When this happens EVERYTHING will go up as a percentage because of manufacturing cost. So even though the guy trying to feed his family by working at Wal Mart, will have to pay more because his happy meal for his kid will be $8, and his Big Mac meal for him will be $12. So he is still struggling. There is no fairy out there that is going to take minimum wage, make it $14 a hour, and keep all cost of goods at what they cost today.

Gas is the answer. Lower the cost of gasoline, and the economy will turn around. If gas is $2 a gallon, every American consumer just put a huge raise in their pocket. they are going to use this extra couple hundred a month to buy bikes, eat out, buy clothing, go on vacations, etc. Lower the cost of gas, and this economy will turn around. But this Administration has refused to do anything to try and lower our energy cost.

Oil is king. If oil was cheaper, tires would be cheaper. s**t if gas dropped by 50% Id have quite a bit more cash to dump back into the local motosport economy. ;)
