Great weekend at Chillitown, had some issues which caused me to be late to my second moto of 250B and apparently they dropped A & B together then +25, but first set of motos it was A then B and +25. so i was a gate drop behind my whole class. LIKE I SAID, i was running late, so i am not blaming Chillitown Staff at all, just wish they had communication to make sure before the gate dropped that everyone knew what was going on, or just not switch stuff like that from moto 1 to moto 2. Jarrett was very professional to come find me and apologize even though it was not his fault.

Thanks again Chillitown for a great season. Your events are some of the most enjoyable events I've been to in a long time.
Saturday was a bit of a wash for me, we got down there late, didn't ride practice, Zuma'd around for a bit, then it started raining and got cold. Put a damper on the trick-or-treating but there were still quite a number who braved the drizzle to get candy!
The racing at CTown is always so intense. I come off the track more exhausted there than any other track. It's also fun to watch with so many classes having huge gates of racers. Everything at CTown is always top notch, no detail is overlooked. Staging was even better this time by moving the entry lanes. At this point, I think their staging is actually better than any other track I've been to, including Millville, MN which is the track I originally saw this staging setup several years ago.
The Vet classes are always stacked at CTown, and this weekend was no different with 17 in +40, 24 +30 racers, and a handful in +50. Congrats to Jason Rogers for putting the beat down on us in +40.....if I'm not mistaken that might have been his first race in +40....
Can't wait till next season!

Yep, I gotta find a new class for sure. Constant beat down from the super fast old farts. Now Rogers is in the mix, oh well that just bumped me back another spot. Last minus 1 this weekend, thanks Jason! Ta boot, you have to come in with that number? Geez, there are already 3 of us. Had a blast! Loved the track after I figured some things out.

This was our first time at Chillitown and we loved it, well I loved it. Def. my style of track and can't wait to go back. Allan and I like different tracks so super happy he liked it as well. The layout is fun, the dirt was good and the track is wide and it never got one lined. Plenty of passing all day.

Listen, I have to give it up for my scoring crew... 17 riders in the class with 4 bikes - all with some form of "65" on them! 65x, 65/, and then the other 2 "65"s by bike brand.... I love those girls.. lol It only takes one lapper and missing the x,/ or type of bike and then we are in trouble... lol They are the best!!!

1. The worst ambulance crew in the history of motocross. A kid in the 65 class was down for 2 laps before the lazy arse EMS crew got to him. The kid in the supermini class laid there the entire race and they did not even make an effort to walk down to him. I think it was Jarrett and another guy had to carry the kid off and up to the ambulance. 492 different 7 Year olds driving golf carts in the pits but we cant get the EMS a vehicle?
2. I know it is hard to find good flaggers but if almost 500 riders are going to show up at each event, its time to hire more through a temp agency. The track needs EASY twice the number of flagger that you had.
3. I read on this board that pit riding was going to be policed. I was there from noon Saturday until 5 yesterday and never seen a single cop. But I seen 1500 brats on every motorized vehicle known to man, none of which were wearing helmets... You CAN NOT expect motocrossers to control themselves. For GOD sake someone stole a pop-up from the track and to my knowledge, no one turned them in.

We had kids by us, racing PW50's up and down the pit road constantly getting yelled at, parents no where to be found, and nearly hitting several racers and pedestrians.

We had a great time as usual. Track was mint Sunday for sure.
The only advise i would give is to announce the current moto number more. Randomly they would announce the class name but rarely a number. And during the second set of motos there was almost no announcing what so ever.
Not a huge deal to make a few trips up to the track and check the number on the board in the first turn, but it would be nice.

Yes, I noticed the announcing stopped the second motos too. I had to constantly make the hike to the starting gate to see who was up, yes I walked, no pitbike. I still don't get the kids on the machines cruising the pits. I have given up on addressing this, parents fault mostly but should be addressed. I bought a pitbike sticker earlier this year and don't even bring a pit vehicle, from what I seen you don't need one anyway. I put the blame on the lazy arse parents more than the tracks. Babysitting tool is all it is. CTMX crew does so many cool features for us, the least we could do is police our kids! Overall this place rocks! Pumpkins along the track was pretty neat.

I really don't mind getting a beat down, I usually have a battling partner to have fun! I mostly ride so I can teach the kid the track. As a beginner bike rider he is unsure of what things he can do. He figures if I jump it he can too. That's a lot of pressure on me though, lol. With my lack of testicular fortitude these days I don't jump much but if I want him to launch somthing I have to do it first!

I will address these one by one.
1. The ambulance crew did fine. The are not to enter the track until we give them the word to do so. More often than not the downed rider in the younger age classes are more shaken up than anything and we like to make sure the rider needs medical attention before we have EMT's drive the ambulance onto the track. If i am not mistaken the 65 rider remounted and rode away after 5 minutes of laying on the track. I'm not say they were perfect but there is more to than just being lazy.
2. We staff more flaggers than most any track you will find. Would we like to have more...sure! I'd like to have a 100. Flaggers are hard to find and good ones are even harder to find.
3. I personally helped police pit riding. It is not as easy as it sounds. We plan to change the rule completely for next year. We parked several kids and gave numerous warnings. And just for the record. I was there from Friday afternoon till last night until 8:30pm and I never seen you once...does that mean you weren't there? Everyone want to get on here and complain about pit riding but no one want to help police it. We all know each other or at least know of the kids that are doing it. Report them and we will handle it from there. "Brats" is not a good description for us to go after a violator.

Love the attitude of all the ladies in the tent. Leaves a lasting impression when you are dealing with a smiling, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Great job.

Pit riding was definitely out of hand. I wouldn't have had time to run my race program if I was stopping at the tent to report every time I almost got ran into.
16+ years old for pit passes would be a great start. Most younger kids just don't pay enough attention and go into panic mode if you aren't getting out of their way. I'm sure this is tough to police, but I haven't experienced pit riding to this extent at any other races.
Other than that, I loved this event. Track was great all weekend and the pressure wash setup is very appreciated. And the results are already up on the Oma site so kudos to that!

Some constructive suggestions from me. Let me also stress that I think it's great to have these problems, because it means huge crowds are showing up!
1. Regarding pit riding. I don't really see much of an issue. However, I'm used to going to big events that have a zillion pit vehicles. Many people may not be used to that and/or are just looking for an issue. With that said, charging $5 PER SEASON for the pit bike pass is WAY TOO CHEAP. Charge $5 PER EVENT at least and maybe give a discount if you purchase a yearly pit vehicle pass. Also make sure the pit vehicle passes have an assigned racer as the accountable party that can be DQ'd if there is a problem. I can't remember if it's on there or not. I would also suggest blocking off the area past the starting gate as "pedestrian only" and make a little area for pit vehicle parking outside of that. Maybe use the big grass space that was in between the staging entrance and the track exit.
2. Track exit. I would try to find a way to have it turn near the end where it dumps out on the road to slow exiting racers down. I saw more of an issue with racers exiting going way faster than first gear walking pace than I did with pit bikes. It's easy to do because you exit the track and come down a long straight before spilling out right into where people are walking.
3. As stated previously, announce motos that need to get to staging or are on the track now and then. They are already doing a good job of announcing so just add that in to make it even better. I too found myself wondering what moto was running, but it is nice and easy to stroll down and look at the huge moto number board in the first turn.
4. Take a race schedule for 2015 and give it to the owners/managers of the gas station/store that's right around the corner. They had the bright idea of resealing their asphalt lot Sunday and it was mayhem in there after the race with camper gridlock because half the lot was roped off! Kinda reminded me of years ago the Wendy's at the exit for Scenic Highlands would be overflowing after a race and have two people working and wondering why they were overflowing with customers.
5. Get the MXsports people to come out and see your place! You guys need to run a LL Youth Regional. Track might be a tad small for a big bike Amateur Regional, but it would be awesome for a Youth Regional!
The cool thing about the stuff I'm posting above is that I'm really having to dig into my brain to even think of anything to suggest because you guys already are doing such an awesome job! I still can't believe I have friends that haven't come there because "well I heard the track is..." this or that or whatever. But then again these are the same people that skip many of the cool events I do, then years later wonder why they didn't go earlier....

I told SEVERAL "people" (I want to use brats but thats not PC I guess) to slow down. I don't expect you or a couple cops to control everyone, it is up to the parents and individuals to use common sense. Don't let your kids drive a golf cart through a crowed pit. Don't let your kid ride a small motorcycle without a helmet. It is OK to walk or ride a bicycle.
The announcement of pit bike enforcement was great, everyone knew the rules. Unfortunately people still did not get the message and while warnings are good, the preverbal "example" should have been made. I would suggest a stockade and public stoning.

Track prep was perfect, the day was quick and the program clicked off like clockwork, facility looked great, better then most if not all nationals. All the activities were fun (The rain sucked but did not stop everyone from having a good time.) The fact that I cant think of anything else to complain about is proof Chillitown is THE BEST MOTOCROSS EXPERIENCE in the state, if not the mid-west.
